I am working on my license to become a Life Insurance Agent. I do not go for my formal training from the insurance company, until next month. The branch office manager said that most of their agents work from 9-5, other than their appointments, they schedule after 5pm. What is a typical day like? Can someone list what a typical schedule would be like.

I take admissions phone calls for a for profit school (one of the ones currently getting in trouble with the government) and just yesterday the office manager decided to close the office and have all of us work from home. They swear it's because it's cheaper but it sounds like they just want to phase us out. Is this a pretty common tactic to lay people off without actually laying them off?

Started working in insurance in Feb. 2003. I manage an agency with 2 CSRs. I am also responsible for commercial and personal lines sales. I will complete my CIC this year. The business I work for is a family business in a small town. I am looking to move to a more urban area. Any ideas on possible positions that would utilize my existing experience? I have a bsba in Finance and Banking also.

I have a good job, here in FL, as an Office Manager. I am trying to plan a move to CA and do not have a job there, nor am I sure how long it will take me to land a job there. I take a prescribed medication for MS and will, of course, have to continue taking it. This is where my questions come in. Were I not taking it I would just pack up and go and land a job with insurance as soon as I could. But I cannot do that - I need to make sure I have a way to get the medication (Avonex) coming to me seamlessly, without break. I am a 38 yr old F. Does anyone know what the steps are that I need to take right now? I suspect it must have something to do with Medicare but I have never applied for things like that and have no idea what it consists of. First of all, I imagine I cannot apply for that until I have moved to CA and have no job. In other words, I could not go tomorrow, here, and apply for Medicare when I am employed here, right? Also, is Medicare guaranteed to cover this for me? Thx

I am currently a Finance Student, and new car salesman... It seems you never see F&I jobs advertized and when you do they always want people with experience in F&I... How does one get a start in F&I other than being promoted from sales, which wouldn't happen until a vacancy arises?

I have been working as a staff insurance claims adjuster for about 3 1/2 years, and am interested in pursuing a career change to a business analyst. I have a BS degree in business administration. I am willing to relocate just about anywhere in the country. Has anyone successfully made this type of career transition? Are there any types of certifications I should obtain to help aid in the transition? Is there another career change that would be a better option? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

After over 20 years, the office manager in our company has opened the mail... all of a sudden we are told that only the owners can open it. The only way anyone else can is by written permission from the owners. Does this sound real or does it sound like someone is slowing taking my job away?

I am currently 17 years old, live in Orlando Florida, and am interested in being a secretary for an insurance company so that way eventually I can get into the insurance industry myself. I have no idea how to go about getting started, and am really interested in doing such. I really wouldn't mind doing all the monotonous stuff (answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, or whatever else needs to be done). If someone can help me, perhaps with what steps I should take, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
