Is a Life Insurance Agent a lucrative career in 2013?

I am debating becoming life insurance agent. Good idea or bad idea? It would be a career change from a software sales representative. I need to make about $150k in the coming years.

Opinion: It sucks to do this for a living. Imagine calling people for 50 years trying to sell them this? 150K a year ? HA? What drug sites have you been looking at? Did you get an email or a call to sell insurance - that's a scam silly goose.

It is a good job, but you have to work very hard. Do not get disheartened, if response is not good from a number of persons. Keep on trying, you will succeed. It is very difficult being a one product (life) agent and in the current down market $150K p/yr is not a realistic commission based salary especially for a newcomer to the industry.
