How to become an Life Insurance Underwriter? What are the procedures to be followed?

I am currently looking for a position as insurance underwriter and, I admit, my job search skills do not amount to much more than sending resumes to advertised positions online, such as on Indeed or CareerBuilder. I would like to take a more proactive approach, such as finding the heads of underwriting departments at insurance companies and emailing them directly. The question is, how would I go about doing that? Do I just look up insurance companies in the Yellow Pages, then call every single one and ask for the underwriting department head's email? How would you go about compiling a list of target companies?

I want to change my major to math. What are some good jobs/salaries for someone with a mathematics degree?
1 answer - Asked By: - 12/16/2010
I know that you can get almost any job with a Mathematics degree, and I also that Mathematics graduates have the LOWEST levels of UNEMPLOYMENT, but which jobs can they get exactly? Specific details please? I know that you can be a maths teacher/lecturer, and that's obvious, but I really don't want to go into teaching. I also know that you can have a job in Finance and Accounting, but they are also obvious.

I graduated from college with a bachelors of mathematics in spring of 06 and last year I taught as a high school teacher. I want to explore other career options but I am having trouble finding the right fit. I do not have a drivers lisencse so a job requireing internal travel is not an option for me at this point. Where can I go to find jobs with so little experience, no driving experience, a bachelors in math, and decent enough pay to make a living. (I am thinking about 35k a year or more).
