Hi friends, I have recently completed my engineering from Bangalore. I am looking for jobs in IT esp development. But since it is very difficult for freshers to get job and all most, all the big companies do not directly hire developers as freshers. So I recently got an offer from pretty big software company to work in application support. They say that its not BPO or CALL CENTER job but it is purely an IT job. Now I just want to know if I take up this offer and start working, will it be possible for me to switch to application developer after few years or would I be stuck in this application support forever? And since there are not much offers in market for fresher so I dont want to leave this job also as I have already seen people from my batch working in call center after b tech. And does this field so called Application Support has good scope in future just like the software developers have? PS As my career is going to start and I am in dilemma so I am expecting answers from people who have high experience in IT fields.

I am an application developer with a strong interest in biotechnology, genomics to be more specific. It seems like I never seen any jobs advertised for IT positions in these fields. It is hard, or basically impossible, for someone with a degree in programming (CIS) - but no biology degree - to get a position with such a firm?

Is Computer Programming / Business Application Developer a good career? Is a career in computer programming, software development, a good career now and in the future? Any input will be appreciated. How much can I expect to make? Will there always be a job for programmers? I've heard of offshoring but I think programmers will always be needed. Please advise. Thanks.

I am an application developer and started working for a big company a month ago. But I noticed that my salary is significantly lower than the average. I graduated from a US Top ranked school with honors and I think the company took advantage of the fact that I didn't negotiated the pay. When I look for a new job, should my resume include my current job that I have only worked in just for a month?
