Application Job Questions & Answers

I believe that some companies could be strict when doing a background check via someones social security which shows the company all the previous jobs a potential employee had in the past. Would it be considered lying on a job application if all former jobs weren't listed in the application? Jobs that the applicant didn't last for more than a week, to avoid giving a wrong impression?

What do I write in the area of an application for job experience if I've never held a job? Is it just to be left blank (there are 3 spots for previous employement). This is for a careers assignment btw, not an actual application (well it is a real application, but I'm not going to be using it). Thanks

I want to check on the status of a job application. The job posting site doesn't have a phone number, only an email. I emailed my application a week ago. However, when I look at the company's main website, they list a phone number. I'm not good with business etiquette - is it rude to call seeing that the job posting doesn't have a number? Or should I call and show that I'm proactive and looked at their website?

I found a new job opening, but I was wondering do I put on a application my current job that I have only worked for little less than a month. The job I application is for a clerk at Macy's. By the way my current job is my first job.

My question is how do I dress when going to pick up an application for a job in the mall? Should I wear slacks, black flats and a collared white blouse so that I may seem serious about the job? Or should I dress more pretty such as jeans and a nice shirts and shoes or something from the store I am applying to? I know managers factor in what your wearing when you pick up an application at their retail store, so do I go professional, or casual but pretty?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like that has affected me in the past when I filled out job applications for jobs NOT requiring a college education. You know, jobs that teens usually take. I never got any calls requesting an interview from any of these department/retail store employers. I didn't end up using my college degree so I wanted to apply for a department/retail store job. A big salary isn't an important factor for me.
