 | I've been looking up jobs working with programming, and it appears that Computer Software Engineering will be one of the fastest growing occupations in coming years. I've also been learning to program for a short while, and I would love to have a career in it. So, what exactly would you do as a CSE? Like, for instance, at Google. What tasks do you do there? Or, at Apple. What specific things do you do regularly? I know that debugging programs is one task CSEs do a lot.

 | I am considering going back to school for a degree in Computer Science. Computer Software Engineers jobs seem to be growing at an alarming rate. However I already have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and I am not trying to do 4 years of school all over again. Will my credits transfer over? I am still young (23) but I want to get this degree in 2 years or less. Your answers are beneficial to my future.

 | I've been hearing that it's difficult, but after checking out BLS I see that job outlook seems to be increasing. People tell me that a lot of Chinese and Indian Software engineers are taking all the jobs.
Is it, or has it been your experience that computer software engineers have a hard time finding jobs?
By steady jobs, I mean jobs that they don't lose.

 | I graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and was considering pursuing a career as a computer software engineer. I am currently looking to obtain certifications on various computer languages (C++) and was wondering if companies hire people from non-related majors if they have the right certifications. Can anyone help?
P.S. Is it possible to get into a MS program for computer engineering from a non-relevant major with certifications as well?

 | I'm thinking about computer software engineering as a major in college and I'm just wondering what it is exactly? Does it only have to do with computer (as in a physical computer.. pc/mac etc.) specific programs or is it a little bit more broad than that and go into other electronic devices other than computers? Is there a difference between computer software engineering and just software engineering?
Any details on this field would be greatly appreciated.

 | So, I am a junior in high school taking a program called running start where I go to a community college. I was looking into computer software engineering and every website I went on said that employers will hire you if you have some experience in the field. How can I get that 'experience'? If you could, please explain everything about the job. (: Thank youu

 | I have always been a computer guy and I think that that would be a good choice for me. Is this a good career? How challenging is it? What kind of education do you need (I think it's a degree in computer science?). I live in Arkansas and I do wonder how many software engineer jobs there would be here though.
I have a couple of years until I have to worry about any of this but I would just like to know now.

 | I would like to know who would most likely get payed more. I know in Computer Engineering you study more varieties, but being a Computer Software Engineer you learn all about Coding and Program Languages and focus mainly on Software.
I know the basics of building a computer, I want to know how to make stuff run in them. But, which get's payed more?

 | The major I'm going for is computer engineer (minor software engineer) and most jobs I've researched require a lot of experience and I wanna get paid as much as i can coming out of school. I'm wondering if building programs or websites for small companies and having a computer tech job would count as experience? I'd appreciate any helpful answers, thanks.

 | I'm interested in being a computer software technician so I was wondering what colledge requirements you needed for being a computer software engineer. Average pay would be nice too. Maybe a good college (in the wisconsin area) for something like that too. thanks.

 | I am really interested in joining the military but I still want to further my education in Computer Software Engineering (I have 22 college credits so far but very little are major specific). Most of my computer and programming knowledge is self taught but all of my professors say I am a natural. I don't want to give up this 'talent' by joining the military so what branch would embrace my skills and let me further them for the better of my country?

 | Ok so im currently taking college courses and I am under the impression that Computer Science and Computer Software Engineering is pretty much the same thing as a major. I want to decide on the two so if any one can tell me if there is a real difference and what that difference is I would appreciate it.
