I graduated from college last December with a degree in computer information systems. It seems every entry level job in my field requires at least a year experience. I want to be a c# .net programmer, but I just don't understand how I'm suppose to gain experience if everyone requires it to begin with. It's driving me crazy.

I'm a C programmer (no not C++) and I can't help but notice that nobody ever advertises for a C programmer. Is it a dead language? Or are the jobs really few and far between. I feel like I should just give in and buy a .NET book.

And to make it more easier, just tell me whats the type of comp jobs that pays more then $30 per hour. Not to mention, what type of courses are required to get this job? Last, is it possible to get any of these jobs in under 3 yrs of college courses (computer classes, of course). Also, whats the name of the major that is best suited for it? Last, make sure its a job where it does not include anything with creating/building/fixing computers (well, except of soft wares, games, or computer programs)

I understand there are probably many different kinds of computer programmer. I am interested in the creation of applications, websites and what is involved in starting and maintaining large online services such as Instagram, SpringPad, Vimeo etc. and how these franchises began before they became successful. What skills, programming languages etc. are typically expected of someone involved in the above fields? Where can I go to learn these skills, or learn which ones are most applicable to my interests? Thanks in advance.
