Recently I've been thinking about jobs, and I'd like to look into the IT side of things, but I know close to nothing about what sort of jobs there are with computers... What job titles are there where you're 1. Working with computers 2. Get a comfortable/good/great pay Last note, I don't want to do web design.

I was always told that an associate's degree is equivalant to a high school diploma. and usually diplomas cant get you any good paying occupations. i am too lazy to study and get a bachelor's degree from college, i dont even know what major i want to do. when i look through the newspaper ad, many jobs require at least an associates degree and couple years of experience. i dont have experience or anything, i dont know where to start. can someone tell me what kind of job i can get with an associate degree with no experience? and what is the pay for each.

I want a job in the IT industry but there are so many jobs in the IT sector that are available (eg. software engineer/developer/designer, video game designer/developer ect.) I enjoy working on a computer but i dont know what any of these jobs entails. For example, I feel like I would enjoy being a software developer, i know that the job is to create programmes for computers but i dont know what work is involved in actually creating them. basically I want to know what my work as a: software developer, engineer, programmer would involve?

I was wondering what the typical lengths of time that it takes a person who is say a little above average in aptitude to learn each of the following languages. By learn I mean competent enough to get an entry level job somewhere, not necessarily gurus. 1) visual basic 2) C/C#/C+/C++ 3) Java 4) PHP 5) Python 6) SQL 7) Haskell ...and why do Haskell programmers reportedly make more money than God?

I mean I know you write codes and stuff, but is that is? I want to be something about computing in the future, and considered proramming, but it looks just too boring. I dont know much about it though, so can anyone explain to me a few key points of it and if its enjoyable? And are there any other careers in computing or video game careers that do not involve programming?

I am a soon to be graduate with an IT degree. I have had a few phone interview for entry level jobs. Many of the questions they asked - about my experience with versions, etc - were not covered in school. I am wondering what I should be expected to know and have experience doing being a recent graduate. I am hoping to find employment as a web app developer. I know html, css, php, sql, java, javascript... I guess I am looking for a general list of what employers expect you to know about. Thanks! To be more specific: I got asked if I have ever done documentation and if I have ever used version software. There was a few other things that I was asked, that I didn't think to write down when they asked.

I have a baby coming and I'm still in community college trying to complete all the required classes for my major. I would like to go to UCI but it would take me years to get in there. I am done with the programming classes but I need math, physics, english and other classes. As you can see, it's going to take quite a bit of time to get my degree. I have been offered two entry level programming jobs. One job is working with PHP learning to create web applications; I could learn a lot about todays web technologies(Flash,Python,Javascript,etc.). Personally, I think its great. The other job is working with ASP.Net and Microsoft technologies. I would start out as a junior developer. This is another great opportunity for me. I would like to work both jobs but there would be no time for school. So, should I learn hands on or get my four-year degree?
