 | I have a degree in Geography. I took an intro GIS class in college and enjoyed it. We used the ArcGis software package from ESRI in the class. I am now thinking of getting a Masters or a Certificate in GIS but I noticed that many colleges require computer programming classes. I am only a geographer and have no experience with programming so I am worried. Also virtually every job posting that I have seen requires programming experience. Any advice?

 | I have always been interested in computer programming, and I like the idea of "being my own boss."
Can you good money doing this? Is it hard to find work?
Also, do you have to go to university, or could you just learn C/C++ and other languages on your own by reading the manuals?
Or would people only hire freelancers with university degrees?
Thanks.

 | I have been married for over a year. We have been living together for 2 and half years. He has never had a job even though I have gotten him interviews and job offers in the fields that he said are his dream jobs, i.e. video game developer and pyrotechnic apprentice. His excuse if that he is going to school. He is taking 3 college classes a semester and is getting paid $1200/mo from the GI bill (our rent is $1250). I pay all bills even though he gets paid. He plays his Xbox360 for over 40hrs/wk including all Friday and Saturday nights. He sees nothing wrong with this and oh, I am in the middle of medical school. What do you think?
