 | Hello,
I work as a programmer and have a masters in computers. Though I like my job I would like to shift towards some business side and bit away from technical side. What does it take to be business analyst at a company? Do I need to do an MBA necessarily? I do not want to go to school again but I am sure there must be some reading I can do on my own to apply for Business Analyst jobs? Thanks.
Sorry for missing out, yes I am talking about business systems analyst, related to computers.

 | I am moving from long-time developer to business analyst. The position has been newly created at my company, and I'm trying to help define my new role. We use the straight waterfall development process, and I'm wondering how the job of a business analyst specifically should be adapted to this methodology. I understand the role of BA varies greatly from org to org and particularly depending on which development process a company uses. Which job functions typically associated with a BA are particularly important when using waterfall? Also, which functions typically associated with a BA might be less appropriately handled by this position since we use the waterfall process?
A little about my organization that may be important:
- We do have a dedicated QA team that currently writes their own use cases which are used as test cases.
- For most projects, our "customers" are internal.
- Our products are for the most part built for an entire industry, not individual customers though they are sometimes adapted to specific implementations. Any external customers we may pull in would be more representative than comprehensive, as might be the case if we were a contractor or custom development shop.

 | Im planning to take Business with IT in college
I've been checking out the career choices I'll have later in life when I came across 'Business analyst',
What does a business analyst do? Is it a good job? Does it pay well? How is the state of job availability in such a field?

 | I came across a chart showing the avarage salaries of business analysts in IT/Computer software/Computer hardware. I do not know what a business analyst does exactly. What course should I take in college to become a business analyst.
Currently I'm planing on getting a degree in Business with IT in college, will that enable me to become a business analyst?

 | What does a peoplesoft tester do in comparison with a business analyst or a reporter?
Right now I am being trained to become a developer or a reporter. I really want to be a developer or a reporter. But my trainer insists that I am only good to be a tester and he keeps repeating it again and again eventhough I do all the programming as good as the next time , if anything, faster.
If he sends me as a "tester" what am I losing in terms of -looking into the future- ?

 | I am a college student majoring in IT and there is a career fair coming soon. A company I am looking at is offering an internship in system consulting, but not business analyst or IT consulting. If I apply for system consultant, will it be similar to an IT consultant or a business analyst?
Feedback will be appreciated, especially from those who are employed in either one of these positions.

 | Hello everyone,
I am a recent graduate with a bachelors in business and technology management. I have been looking for work for the past few months as a business analyst, assistant project manager and a few others. I have been unsuccessful although I think I have a great resume, lots of experience and a good education.
The only jobs that I was able to find were with sales. However, with sales, I feel that my education is worthless. I do not see myself as a salesman.
My question is, what kind of positions should I be looking?
