I just got a job at the Clarion hotel as a front desk clerk and I'm wondering how much they make. At Holiday Inn it was $8/hour so I'm guessing it'll be somewhere around that. Does anyone know?

I have many years of being a regular hotel front desk clerk, but I recently just got hired to be a LIVE-IN desk clerk where I live at the hotel...which is very different to me. How exactly does it work when the hotel does not have a 3rd shift? Do people call down to the room and u have to jump out of bed, etc? How do you know if people are at the desk or something? Has anybody ever done this before? This hotel is a 69 room facility and pretty big. Anybody have any past experience and/or knowledge they can share in this field?

I have been working at Subway for over a year now, and I do not like the manner in which it is managed (unpredictable schedule, little leniency, bad hours etc) and the fact that I can't do homework at work makes school much more stressful as well. I have the opportunity to get a job as a motel desk clerk; the schedule is set (thurs, fri, sat, sun 3-11), I get more hours and I am permitted to do my homework. According to your experience, which job would you prefer and why?

Is it legal for an employer in California to pay one employee two different hourly wage rates for performing one job based on the number of hours worked in the day? For example, is it legal to pay one hotel desk clerk $10.00hr when she works a shift under 8 hours one day, and pay her $9.00hr for working an 8 hour shift the next day? Thanks!

I am not happy working my current job in a factory. I would love some ideas for different types of jobs that would make use of my current skills and education. Please pass along any resources you might have in relation to these jobs. I have worked as a cashier, customer service rep, wood worker and hotel desk clerk. I have a Supervisory Mangement Certificate and have taken some computer and accounting courses. I have also raised animals all my life and worked on a dairy farm. I also enjoy four wheeling, snowblading and generally being outdoors. Maybe there is a job that allows me to four wheel all the time haha! Thank you!

I also have been looking into jobs like bookkeeping but everything requires experience. Any suggestions would be great.

In mid-August, I accepted a sales position at a popular boot company opening up a store at a new local mall, which doesn't open until October 11. With that in cosideration, I accepted my current job as a front desk clerk at a hotel to have some money coming in. My current job pays 75 cents less than the position I accepted for the outlet mall, which is an obvious disadavantage. However, the advantage there is that since the hotel environment is so 'lax, I get to sneak in some study time for school since I'm a full time student. The advantage and disadvantage of the mall job are the exact opposite--more money, but more responsibility, and more than likely, no time to study. In conclusion, I was very excited about the mall job when I was offered the position, but I'm overridden with guilt for having to leave the hotel (in the event that it does happen) in such a short time working there and because my manager is very, very satisfied with my performance.

I will be done with my pre reqs for nursing school soon, and will be going to nursing school next semester, but what kind of job can I get right now without having a degree in anything? I'm 19 and my past work experiences have nothing to do with health care. Besides being like a receptionist or front desk clerk at a doctor's office, what else is there? Thanks in advance!

I have to go to work in a hospital. There is never enough help. The techs who are supposed to be helping me out sit on their rear ends mad because the nurses tell them what to do. On a weekend, the support staff never want to do their jobs. I have to argue to get tests done because it is Sunday and no one from other depts want to come on. The desk clerk always puts my orders in wrong and I end up staying late for hours to get them put in right. Sometimes she just simply doesnt put them in at all. I am so dreading tommorrow. Any suggestions?
