 | Hello, I was wondering if a physics degree, with a concentration in microelectronics, would be a viable degree for an engineering job. I am very interested in electronics, however my college doesn't have an engineering program, but it has this degree. I'd love to be an electrical engineer, working with electronics, but I don't want to get out of college just to find out that the physics degree leaves me unemployable as an engineer. I'd take a few engineering electives to complement the degree too.
Thank you for the help!

 | I'm graduating college this semester and have been looking for a job that is an entry level network engineer job and I can't find any. I have a CCNA, but I'm now wondering if that is enough. Where are the entry level network engineer jobs and is a CCNA enough for them? If not, what else is required?
So without experience, you can't even get an entry level job?

 | I have no luck in getting a professional engineering job at the moment. So I am trying to get a casual job which will be beneficial for my value in professional career. Are there any examples of casual, "no-experience-required" jobs which are useful for gaining value?

 | My university unfortunately doesn't have a nuclear major. They have every other engineer type of major. What would be the most compatible discipline, so I can become one? Also is it true they make the most out of all engineer jobs.

 | I hold a graduate engineering degree, and for 3 years after graduation, I worked in a family business that really had nothing to do with my major, but I played a big role in the company and gained a lot of business experience from it. Now I want to get back into my trade, and am looking for startup engineering jobs. How harmful is my experience given that I haven't been practicing my trade since graduation? Will employers prefer someone who recently graduated over me, even though my academic record might be more impressive?
Thanks.

 | I had an interview with a proff. a month or two ago for an engineering job position, which apparently I didn't do well enough in and didn't get the job offer. Just recently, I applied to another of his job posts, and I got another interview with him again.
What should I do in this interview to succeed and not let things get awkward?

 | On a scale ( 1 - 10 ) how effective is sending a personalized cover letter?
I am trying to send my resume ( for an entry level electrical engineering job ) to many people
I have updated my cover letter in a way that it looks personalized ( but it's not )
So i was thinking , maybe the best is to send 2 - 3 resumes with neatly updated /customized/personalized cover letters which will give much more return results.
but I can't make up my mind yet,
What should I do ?

 | I have a BSECET from ITT Tech. The school is often looked down upon. Though it may be possible for me to find an engineering job, I was wondering if I should start all over at a normal university for better education and safety.

 | I've read online that with a degree in mathematics you have tons of career opportunities, but although math is the core of engineering I'm unsure of exactly how someone with a general bachelors math degree would enter into the engineering field?
Would you need to have a specialized option towards engineering (which would possibly close off other career opportunities), or would the general degree be enough in itself?

 | I am a sophomore in High School with no plan after school. I was brought the idea about engineering so i looked up the different kinds of them. This was the only one i found that i would have any success in. I am pretty good in algebra (not geometry) and i have fun working with money but i don't know exactly what a Sales Engineer does.
So my question is: What do they do? What do you have to be good at? Is there a better engineering job then this (not artistic)?

 | I am planning on doing Army ROTC in college and majoring in either Eletrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer science, and (maybe just maybe) Accounting. Does the military, more specifically the Army, use eletrical/computer engineer majors or computer science majors? I basically don't want to go to college and work my ass of in one of these fields then not use any of it,thus forget all I have learned, when I join the military. I am really interest in the Army since my father and brother are currently in. If i do ROTC, I would become an officer and I couldn't find any engineering jobs as an officer besides the Corps of Engineers which is more like civil engineering and "bomb-finding". So the underlying question, does the Army use any of the above engineers? Would I be better of joining the National Guard, Navy, or Air Force (since I'm pretty sure these branches use these kind of engineers)? I always wanted to join the Army to serve my nation and I always wanted to become an Engineer/ CS guy but it seems like those two options don't mix.

@RoaringMice: See I don't know if I want to go straight into hardcore ChE primarily because they scare us to death about all the things that can go wrong in a plant, or if it were best for me to go into a business type of thing.... I just am not too sure what I want to do with my ChE degree yet. I thought once I wanted to go into petrochem but I keep applying and no one calls back. This one called back though which is why my advisor recommended it :/
@RoaringMice: Awesome, thanks for your help :) !!
@Katie: Ouch! No I am a year away from completing the degree, so no I will not change. Plus, I love my classes in ChE. Just because I don't get a call back doesn't mean I won't be hired as a chemical engineer. I am pretty much capable of being a chemical engineer. I just am not sure if a hardcore path is right for me.
