I am a 2nd year Computer Science student at The City College of NY(a pretty good college in NY). I read a lot of stuff about Software Engineering having 40?ob growths in terms of Systems and Applications Development. I read a lot about CNN making Softawre Architects, Engineering, and whatnot at the top of the list. But then When I read the comments and read other stuff and listen to people, I learn that there is a lot of outsourcing and offshoring to Indians who work twice and hard for 1/20th of the salary. Ok, but then a University of Chicago professor claims that "Saying outsourcing is taking away jobs is the equivalent of saying the sun revolves around the earth. Sound information, but invalid." Ok, I am going to hopefully get a Entry Level job in software engineering soon, should I be worried? I just read that Programmers are losing jobs offshore, not software engineers or system analysts. I just don't know what I should believe, I find lot of information and arguments on both sides. i Am just worried that if this is such a bad field, I should just drop and switch to something else. I was in health care, but I hate science and I can't stand to listen to diseases and what not. You know I read that Software Engineering has very low stress and you just have to keep up with technology. What is the real story...? And any advice...? Thanks.
