Peoplesoft Developer Job Questions & Answers

What does a peoplesoft tester do in comparison with a business analyst or a reporter? Right now I am being trained to become a developer or a reporter. I really want to be a developer or a reporter. But my trainer insists that I am only good to be a tester and he keeps repeating it again and again eventhough I do all the programming as good as the next time , if anything, faster. If he sends me as a "tester" what am I losing in terms of -looking into the future- ?

Note, it is my intention to make myself marketable for an interview at least. I have a BS in the field and am currently in graduate school; I've also been in work with State Govt for 20 years. Encouragement is greatly appreciated. I would eventually like to move in the direction of being a System Administrator. I'm interested in what steps I could and should be taking to make myself more marketable for an IT entry level position. I'm particularly interested in work that will get me to a Systems Analyst position.

I came to know that SAP is a company which gives ERP implementation. I want to know what exactly is SAP and why is the world slowly moving towards SAP implementation for all companies? What is buggy with the current setup of companies without SAP intervention? If SAP is computerizing/integrating the whole company setup, then wouldnt it reduce the job opportunities?

Here is my problem: I have 10 years of experience in Hyperion SQR reporting. As we know, SQR language is used in both PeopleSoft and Hyperion, but 90?s in peoplesoft, and 10?s in Hyperion. For me, I only use SQR in Hyperion and know nothing about peoplesoft. If I use Hyperion SQR as a job title to look for a job in Canada, no positions can be found. But if I use SQR developer as a job title, there are many positions, all of them is about Peoplesoft SQR, as soon as they know I know nothing about Peoplesoft system, they give me up. So I have to rename my job title as Hyperion Developer, ok, there are a lot of Hyperion developer positions indeed. But hyperion is a huge package, Essbase, Planning, HFM, DIM, ODI, .... There are too many skills to know. I use 1.5 year to learn the other Hyperion skills, and can only come to the basic level for most of the other hyperion skills. Now, I am lucky to sit on a Hyperion SQR project in USA, and I have time to learn new skills. Please experts gave me some advices, should I learn some peoplesoft skills, and make me more like a PeopleSoft SQR developer? If I learn PeopleSoft, peoplesoft is also a huge package, many things to learn. Or I keep learning the other Hyperion skills, even if they have nothing to do with SQR? Or there is the 3rd way? Or 4th way? I lost my way in the career market, and not sure what I should do the next step, please experienced experts point out the way for me, very thanks!

I somehow could not obtain my commerce degree but I started my career as software engineer. Developing software since four years. Non-graduate status will effect my future career plans? Are there any companies out there who will employ non-graduates like me? Though I have done couple of technical courses but no graduation bothers me. Also, I am worried that even if I complete my commerce graduation it may not help me in my software development career. Please advice I work in team and I am a very good team member. I am full fledge software engineer and work as good as other engineers but minus my degree. The company which I am working is okay with my non-graduation status but If I have to join another company for better prospects I am concerned.
