I just started a new job as a marketing director for a construction company. One of my tasks will be to update the website, and increase our visibility online. Unfortunately, I have no experience with website design or online marketing, and am looking for a good source for basic information on the subject.

I am the marketing director of a company which has had tremendous results. One person who was very close to us went and filed a rip off report online because of personal issues..when confronted he was extremely guilty and apologized to take it back but realized he couldn't do it. We wanted to do rebuttal and so did he but when consulted with internet reputation guys they said not to do it as it would show up more on the first page. We have had tremendous amount of satisfied client and not one single dissatisfied customer. How should a victim of bad internet publicity handle the situation. How can we push such negative entries backward on search engines without causing much scenes with rebuttals? Please help as its my job to take care of it and I am not sure how! (Heard something about search engine optimization..not sure how to do it myself ). Any suggestions will be deeply appreciated..thanks !!

I'm currently researching to see if I'd seek a job as a website designer, so I'd like to hear what the job is like from someone who already is a website designer, via 5 simple question-and-answers. Questions: Q: What role do you play in your job? Q: What personal characteristics and education is required for someone to be successful in your job? Q: Likes of the job? Q: Dislikes of the job (what are the biggest challenges)? Q: Advice for someone wishing to pursue a career as a website designer? It would also help if you could leave your name, so I can properly cite your quotes, but you can leave your initials instead if you'd rather not give out that much information. If you're a website designer feel free to answer as many questions as you'd like (any length will do). Or If you know someone I can email that will respond quickly, leave a comment with their email address (unfortunately I'm quite pressed for time [my research paper is due tomorrow] so a quick response is needed).
