What do you think should be an initial hourly rate for a temp-to-perm job as a SQL Server Developer? I have 8 to 9 years of experience. Based on a google search, I believe the average national annual salary for SQL Server Developers is 90K. I am offered a 3 months contract with a possibility of that turning into a permanent position of 85K salary. What do you think the initial rate should be? Does anyone know the temp-to-perm rates for such positions?

How much should I ask for in a salary for a junior software position. Education BA computer science completion dec 2013 training in sofware development in C#, .NET, SQL Current position: I administer and implement network/voip solutions. This is not in my job description but I volunteered my services and created several .Net/c# applications for my current employer which are being used and has boosted productivity. I have been here currently for 1 year and would like to look for a junior software developer position with a team of like minded individuals after I finish my degree. I am from Sri Lanka. I am an Oracle Forms (6i to 11g Forms) Developer also very good in PL/SQL. My PR visa to Australia expires in a couple of months. I am having a hard time trying to decide whether to go or stay in Sri Lanka. A few of my fellow Oracle developers who migrated to Australia never got Oracle Forms or PL/SQL jobs. They are doing other types of jobs like in SW Testing and data entry. What are my chances of getting an Oracle Forms (or PL/SQL back-end developer) job in Australia??? How long will I have to hunt for a job?

I'm just getting started in web design, but I'm much more interested in more in-depth web programming than just HTML and CSS. I'm pretty well versed in Javascript and Ajax, and I'm working on my SQL and PHP, but I'm also curious about Coldfusion, ASP, etc. What are some good technologies I should start working on to help my career?

I am currently majoring in computer science. I have learned the basics of java and C++, however I certainly do not feel confident saying I "know" those languages. My question is, what should I learn to land an entry-level job as a software developer? I feel like most job requirement list 4-5 languages, but what specifically in these languages should I know how to do? What languages and concepts should I know thoroughly? And, if you can recommend some books to learn from, that would be helpful as well.

It's been 8 years since I worked. I been in the IT training sector for 5 plus years before I stopped working. Now I'd like to pursue as a developer / programmer. But I need to refresh something to give myself a start off. Now that I have 2 kids and a long break, I'd like to start with something easier and then may be if I'm able to make it l'll go for other ones. But I've been teaching programming languages and database management systems when I used to work previously. So I think I'll be able to pick up once I start off.
