My husband has been searching FURIOUSLY for a job in his field here in Houston. He has tried Monster, Yahoo Hot Jobs, Career Builder, Dice, Houston Chronicle, cold-calling recruiters & staffing agencies, etc. Even when he does see new listings for VB6 or Oracle8 jobs, he rarely gets an interview. He has all of the qualifications, education, and experience. What is going on? He needs a job!

I maintain mostly legacy COBOL/CICS code but I also have to do Visual Basic 6.0 on occasion and also maintain applications that involve lots of network interfacing with TCP/IP. I program in the zOS environment and Windows. We do not have strict job descriptions at work. Some days I feel more like a system admin than a computer programmer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm not completely new to programming, but I've been finding it difficult to choose 1 program to stick with. Here's what I'm looking for: Something relatively easy. Something I can make GUIs in. Something I can program hardware in (PIC/ Picaxe). Something I can make simulations in. Something versatile that I can use in a wide variety of things. Please, no C#, Alice, Scratch, or Greenfoot. I understand that this is a broad range, so multiple answers are ok. Thanks!

Think about the last time you needed to work in a small group. What was it you were supposed to do, a project, an activity, plan an event, solve a problem, etc.? Was the end result of your working together productive or unproductive? Why do you think this was so? Were you the leader of the group? If not, could you tell who the group leader was? How? Did the direction the group took in terms of completing the task align with how you thought the task should be completed? Why or why not?
