After the birth of my baby, I suffered a lot of complications. I had severe blood loss, after birth, and was rushed to surgery. I received four bags of blood afterwards. Then I came home, and found out that I was bleeding. I went to the emergency room, and they did an ultrasound, and found that a large part of the placenta was left inside of me. I wa hospitalized, and they did a d & c, to remove it. But when I came home, I was ill, and had to return to the hospital for several days. Since then, I was in and out of the hospital, for about twenty times. Once a doctor said I was in heart failure, and if they did not get a particular dug, I would be dead. The hospital doctor counteracted that claim, and said my heart was fine. Anyway, I was sent to do numerous heart related tests, and I was alright. But afterwards, I started to have severe daily headaches. I had headaches even when I slept. I went to the doctor, and was diagnosed of blood clots, in the sigmoid, and transverse sinuses. I was on blood thinners at the hosital for seven days, then afterwards, I was on blood thinners for almost a year and a half. I took the scan again and the results from scan showed that the clots have cleared, but I still suffer daily headaches for three and a half years now. I am on tramadol (one three times daily) and gaberpentin (once, three times daily), but the headaches rage on. Sometimes, I have intense headaches everyday. I have tried nerve blocks in my neck, eye brows, and nostrils, botox, chairopractic treatment, and a host of other medications before. Nothing works. I am so frustrated now, because it affects every area of my life. What more can I do? I feel like I have tried everything. My head gets so tender because of the pain, and I have to try to sleep it away, but that is difficult. My job enables me to have medical insurance, but I have been holding on for 3 and a half years now, but the pain still persists. My current pain specialist wants to take me off the medications now. If I come off them, I will not be able to function in my job, and that makes me worry that I might have to give up my job. I cannot do that, since I depend on my job fully. What help is out there to stop these daily headaches? It is the headache that affects my life, not the current medication.

I've just started college and am studying a BA degree at the moment. I've recently done some research about Geographic Information System (GIS) specialists and found that it may be my perfect career. The problem I have is that I don't have much information about it and about further study and experience I will need. I basically don't know how to go about shaping my career path. I would be grateful for ANY suggestions! Thanks :)

Hello, I am going to list my credentials, and then a list of colleges, and then I would like for someone to tell me where I stand ( I am big on liberal arts colleges, and my father told me that with my credentials and an interview, I could get into practically any liberal arts college in the country.) I am a caucasian, 15 year old boy, having just finished up my sophomore year, my GPA is 3.87 unweighted, with AP classes, challenging classes, and having skipped some classes. I would sometimes choose the harder teacher just to make sure I learn the subject. I have 60+ hours of service learning out in the community: taking seminars on how to teach tennis to youth, trash clean up in preparation for graduation, volunteering for the local lions club fundraiser, etc. I really value my education, and want to go somewhere where I can further my intelligence, creativity, and profound leadership quality. Freshman year I took AP US History and discovered I wasn't yet adapted for the AP world (especially a 2 semester class.) I received a 2 on the exam, but it only motivated me. I took AP Government this year, knew practically everything on the exam, and my teacher got a quick glimpse at the results. He was almost positive I got a 5, but maybe a 4 he said. Next year I am taking AP Psychology, AP English, and AP Spanish ( I took spanish 1&2 last year and this year I am skipping 3 and doing 4 and AP.) I am preparing myself for the grueling ACT, and each practice test I have received phenomenal results. By the time I finish it my third time, I expect a 33 +. I am also extremely active outside the classroom. I am a great soccer player (4 years of high school varsity while my freshman year there were Juniors on JV, playing on a nationally ranked travel team, and captain of the high school team in grades 11 and 12.) I also played varsity tennis all 4 years, and because of my soccer kicking abilities, I am the kicker for the varsity football team, in grades 11 and 12. That adds up to 10 varsity letters, and maybe more if I ever do indoor track. I am interested in running for president senior year (it's already too late for junior year) and I want to join the Future business leaders of america and maybe the Fellowship of Christian athletes next year. I would like to find some time my senior year to be an intern as well. In addition to my plethora of sports, I also have a passion for music. I have played saxophone since the 5th grade, and I have gotten very good. I practice out of both Rubank advanced methods, and I will probably go out for All Shore or All State band next year if time permits. On top of that, I have musical background with the piano, the xylophone (just got one and about to start taking lessons,) the recorder (I am very talented on the recorder,) the drums, and the panflute (believe it or not.) I can read music on all of these, and compose from time to time. I dedicate my summers to my job. I have an excellent job at a summer day camp, where we have 7 staff members in charge of 40+ kids ages 4-11 (I work with the 4-7 year olds) and we help teach them creativity and help them to have fun. I do that every year during the summer, and I would work more than I do, but I simply can't, time doesn't permit. With all of that said.... here are my colleges of interest. -Emory University -Dartmouth -Oberlin* -Berkely -Amherst -US Naval Academy -Columbia U in New York -Carleton College* -Allegheny College* -Johns Hopkins University -University of Colorado at Boulder -New York University* -Colorado College* -Lawrence University (my father is alumni and my family donates $10,000 a year if that helps.) * The 6 starred colleges are the most important to me, and if nothing changes in a year (which I guarantee it will,) I will apply to those schools. Please give me advice on whether the school is: a reach (being possible but not probable,) a match (pretty decent chance at admission,) and easy (something I may have too much potential for.) One more important thing... money is not an issue! I would love to hear the opinions of at least one college specialist, if not more. Thank you so much your time -Dedicated Student

I am a B.tech (ECE) (Final Year)(2006-2010) student in KIET Ghaziabad affiliated to UPTU. It started well. I got 73 percent in 1st year, 69 in second year but slowly my interest was fading as we were going into core electronics. I realized that this is not what I wanted to do. In the mean time my interest in website designing grew and I learnt HTML, XML, PHP etc. I have learnt these in last one year. I think if I had taken computer science branch, it could have been better. Currently I am learning .NET from an NIIT in Delhi. I had a back in third year so I was not eligible for Infosys and similar is the case with most of other companies. I really want to make a career in website designing and softwares. Do I have options in these fields. I also have entrepreneurship in mind, would that be good for me? Advice from a person in a similar field is most welcome..

Hi, I have been working for about 10 years as a computer programmer and in all this time I went through, a bit of Java, Oracle, SqlServer (97, 2000, 2005), C#, Compact Framework, XML, HTML, ActionScript, among others technologies and frameworks. I have been trying to focus on JEE / Spring + Oracle, but in almost every job I had (4 if I count the current one) I got the job with the commitment I would be working with Java Technologies (Which I have always enjoyed and spent a vast amount of time learning) and I always have accepted to earn a bit less in order to get on with Java. But invariably I end up working on different technologies which made me frustrate. Because in the past 2 years I haven't been working with Java (neither studying it), I would need to get professional advices about what kind of skills for a Spring/J2EE is the UK market eager for. I am in the UK for about 1 year now (Working on the embedded side - MS stuffs). Maybe my fate is not to work with Java ;) Regards

I'm seventeen, and a student pilot. I love flying. I eventually want to fly for an airline. For a time, I was looking at two schools- Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Daniel Webster College. ERAU has a total fee of nearly $53,000 per year. DWC costs around $38,000 per semester. Both of these schools cost so much due to the expensive hands-on flight training. My father is 64 and retired. My mother is in her mid-fifties, and is making $30,000 - 35,000 per year. I know they can't afford for me to go to either college. My father is already in debt from sending my two older brothers to college. I doubt the bank will lend him another plus-loan, as old and as in-debt as he is. I've looked at scholarships, but we're talking about a grand total of anywhere from $120,000 - 210,000 for my entire education. Recently I've been looking at the benefits that the Army has to offer. I've been told that if I choose Aviation Operations as my "career choice" upon enlisting in the Army, then I'll be tagging along with a helicopter 24/7, getting to know the thing inside and out. And after two years or so, I can apply for a Warrant Officer position. For the next two years after that, if I'm promoted to Warrant Officer, I'll get to fly choppers. And at the end of my four-year term, I'll be able to receive up to $80,000 for my college education. Which is nearly half of my total fees. So it's nothing to laugh at. Is the Army worth it, in terms of its benefits? Having grown up in a small town where nothing exciting ever happened, I'm starting to look forward to what I suspect is adventure and travel. But so far, all I've heard are stories of 22 year-olds coming back from Iraq with severe psychological problems, or with a sense of complete alienation for everything they used to know. I'm looking for answers from soldiers and veterans of the army, with true-to-life experience. No BS posers. What is your stance on the U.S. Army? Could I return from four years of service and not be any different? Or would I get messed up? I always have alternate options. I could go with a cheaper flight school, but I really like the idea of attending a school where United States astronauts are trained. Embry-Riddle is the leader in higher education in all aeronautical fields of study, and I'm just that kind of guy who always aspires to be the best. I could get student loans and work a few years before going to college. Even if I enlist and get military training, I still want to go to college- to fly fixed-wing aircraft. In the Army, I'll be flying helicopters, and that will amount to good military flight time, but you can see why I will still want to go to Embry-Riddle or Daniel Webster, even after I've gotten great training in the Army. Thanks for reading, sorry my question is so long, and thanks to all who answer in advance.
