Business Attorney Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
I graduated from Rutgers Law this year. I was a night student, worked as a litigation paralegal for two years at a 225 attorney firm, have good grades, was on the main journal, published an article in the journal. I was a finance major in undergrad and concentrated on business law classes at law school. All I want is a position as a business attorney at a large or mid sized firm. Unfortunatley, every where I apply they tell me that they are impressed with my credentials but they primarily recruit their summer associates for entry level jobs. I already sent out 100 cover letters and resumes! Can anyone give me any tips or share their experiences? Does any one know of any firms that are looking to hire? I took NJ and PA bar exam a few weeks ago. I would be willing to take a job anywhere and would take the bar in that locality. I've been applying to firms in Philly, NJ and NY.

I have nearly completed my courses to be a paralegal. I will be done by the end of winter semester. I ultimately want to get into business law, and be a business attorney. But for now, I need a good paying job, and paralegal seems to be it, since it gets my foot into the door of law. What my question is, is how long is the road from a degree in paralegal, which is associates. To becoming an attorney. I know it is a long road, but I need more of a pep talk, and facts on how to go from being a paralegal, to becoming a graduate of law school.

I have just received my bachelors degree and have so far only had small side jobs. When I'm looking online now, I don't even know where to start. I know that I would most likely be starting off low, but I am looking for an industry that would be cool to work in with increasing opportunities in the years to come. Does anyone have any advice for that?
