Courtroom Clerk Job Questions & Answers

I saw one other answer on here and a responder said to contact local news station in order to find work, but that seems like a difficult way to find jobs. I never see this kind of thing on job boards so where do I look? Also, of anyone does this is the pay good enough that you can live off it alone or are they just small freelance jobs? I have a background (degree +work experience) in Illustration and Animation and can draw quickly and always wanted to try this. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

I want to quit my job and have more leisure time. I know that I won't get much money, but I'm a bachelor, and I don't mind making some sacrifices if it means not having to work anymore. I'm a Democrat, and I'm voting for Obama.

I'm moving over the summer and need a summer job to support myself. I graduate in May with a degree in mathematics, and start law school in fall, at which point I'm not allowed to work. This makes finding a summer job a little more difficult since I can't work once school begins (law school rule). So I thought temporary placements would be nice, but I'm curious as to how often, and easily for the that matter, you can find work through them. I'm talking western pa area. Thanks for any advice!! =)

I'm looking for just kind of day job as I work on my own things, but I don't want to be stock clerk anymore--I want something with the right balance of significance and inconsequence. I've narrowed my choices down to public relations and paralegal. Which one would require less of my time and energy and be less of a commitment. Soooo Infinni, are lame attempts at humor how you got to level 7? I'd appreciate a serious response. Thanks.

I got a notice of hearing regarding a civil court case that was dismissed because the plaintiff failed to appear at the initial hearing (I am the named defendant.) The letter came via regular mail and was not served to me. It wasn't an order to appear, it was just an notice of hearing. The plaintiff apparently has now filed a motion to have the dismissal set aside. For what reasons I do not know, obviously it was dismissed because he did not show, but he has no basis to have it dismissed. my problem is that I have an out of state job assignment that is really crucial for me to take which falls in that time frame as the hearing. Since I wasn't ordered to appear is it possible to send a letter to the judge stating that the plaintiff has no legal basis to have the dismissal set aside and also to state i will be unable to attend. According to the clerk's office it will be the same judge deciding on the dismissal as ruled for the dismissal to begin with. Advice anyone! thanks! I did check with the clerk's office they are not qualified to give legal advice.. I really don't see how they can get me for failure to appear when they cannot prove I got the letter in the first place as it came regular mail and not certified.. he did not refile..it is a hearing to have the dismissal set aside because of his failure to appear..it is not the small claims case that he orginally filed on.. The letter stated: Please take notice that a hearing is scheduled for August 28th based on a motion filed by the plaintiff to have the dismissal of case #xyz set aside. then it has the judge's signature on it and that is it..It doesn't say i have to appear.. I did not receive a copy of the motion to have a dismissal set aside, just a notice of a hearing for it..

I'm sixteen years old. I have to go to crown court soon as a victim of sexual abuse. What will it be like? My parents aren't coming with me as I don't want them to be there. Is it likely I can bring one of my teachers from school so I'm not alone? If you could give me an idea of the general procedure I'd be grateful. Thanks.

I am a security guard, i usually work in the bad area of town in department store parking lots, about a month ago I had a cracked out guy come up to me. I asked him to leave the property, he started to walk towards the exit, then he stopped, he turned around and started after me. I didn't know if he had a gun or knife on him. All I had for protection was a metal baton. I pulled that out and started to hit him until he fell to the ground. I called for the police after i placed him in handcuffs, they showed up and took him away. What I am asking is, would you have delt with the situation any differetly? If so, how would you have done it?

I work a temp job in a medical office (a branch office of a national corporation) where one of the permanent office clerks likes to say "everyone is the same" in response to demanding patients that are more "accomplished" careerwise or in reference to corporate office holders and their sometimes demanding requests. I am very conflicted on this question and wonder what other people think. I believe that everyone is equal on a spiritual level and that everyone should be treated civilly - but not quite sure if worldly accomplishments should be ignored. For instance, I believe a medical doctor has accomplished a lot and provides a noble service to society and should be treated with the commiserate respect. The woman that says all are equal is a nice person who didn't go to college and part of me thinks that she wishes to lower the "status" of others in order to raise hers. Seems that she may have a chip on her shoulders (albeit somewhat repressed). Any thoughts?
