I'm getting two different stories. One is that in some lawyer jobs, like for the state, lawyers have to defend people they know are not guilty. Then, I heard somewhere else that lawyers are not allowed to defend people they know who are guilty. So which is it? The title should read "Lawyers are not allowed to defend people they KNOW are GUILTY?"

I've applied three times since I've graduated from (a top-tier) law school. Each time I got a rejection letter with the statement that I should apply again. I am now 34, which is the cutoff age for a JAG Commission and I really want this. I can taste it. I fell into a non-lawyer job after law school and haven't yet had an opportunity to practice although I've kept my license up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The majority of Democratic law makers have a background in government administration, education, community organization or plain old lawyer jobs. It seems to show in their lack of competence--President Obama barely even had the savy to push his health care reform through and he had to water it down. He and many other prominent Democrats seem to live in an ideological dream world and lack practical real-world skills and knowledge. Would Democrats benefit if they nominated more candidates with work experience similar to that of most Republicans: business, medicine, farming, defense industries, etc?

Or are you very confident in getting a lawyer job? I am definitely sure that there is a law school out there that will accept my qualifications down the road. There are 62 law schools in California and it doesn't seem possible that they would deny someone with at least a 3.0 GPA. But going to law school is a high risk investment as a law degree is very common these days and several schools have allowed its students to double up with an MBA, M.Ed and Masters in Journalism, Economics, History, etc.

If you allow women to form class action suits on behalf of their children...and then make certian practices illegal for big business...you destroy lawyer jobs and weaken American politics. We should not make things illegal just because they are harmful or else we make fewer jobs for lawyers. Explain how this is not true if you disagree and explain what can be done to reverse it if you do agree. Share your thoughts? Nurture everyone...and put hard working lawyers out of a job.
