I'm planning to attend a college that offers Air Force ROTC and graduate as a second lieutenant. However, I'd like to know what kind of jobs would be available to me once I do graduate. Could I be a doctor? If so, would I have to go to med school at some point? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I graduated in 2003 with a BA in History. I didn't have any luck getting a job in the history field after college, and now I'm 2/3 done with my MA in Military History, which I will finish in August--although I won't get my diploma until December. I want to work at a museum or do historical research, but so many jobs require experience. I've got education but don't have any work experience in the history field, and I can't just volunteer because I need to pay the bills somehow. I live in Alaska and want to move back to the Lower 48, but I need to get a job before I move, and it needs to be in late August or early September so I can move before winter comes. Does anyone have some good advice for me? If you work in the history field, I'd especially like to hear from you. Thanks for your answers so far--keep them coming! I didn't do internships before because I didn't know right away after college what I wanted to do. I've applied for a couple internships, but I don't know if I'll get them since so many internships actually want people to have experience. I'm not good in front of people, so I'm not really interested in teaching. I'm the type of person who likes to work behind the scenes. Oh, in response to the other answer--about going into the military. I'm not interested in joining the military, although I definitely support our troops. I'm more interested in the history aspect. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I was thinking it would be nice to work behind the scenes in a museum, but I would be poor. I'm a quiet person, so teaching doesn't appeal to me. And the government side of social studies bores me to tears. I just like history. Besides making a giant important discovery or writing amazing essays all the time, what job could I get?

I mean, the system is kind of weird. Do we really need both of them? Couldn't one just do the job? I'm sure there are other downsides to having 2 people present your case opposed to one, but idk. Thoughts?

I was very successful in jobs where the last person who had my job quit. However, I've had three jobs where the previous person when had my job was fired, usually in the probationary period (and one where the person who had my job after me was fired too) and I was fired in my probationary period from two of them. I recently started a new job, where I thought that would change but they just fired the last girl they hired to do my job 2 days ago. I've been there for two weeks and have a six month contract. Their business isn't doing too well since I think they're deluded about the demand for their product. They said they like my work, so far. I'm a marketing specialist who is trying t find leads for them, maintain their website, deploy their email campaigns and, of course, justify my salary. I'm terrified that I'll lose my job again.
