Maritime Attorney Job Questions & Answers

I am about to begin my undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. I plan on majoring in political science with a minor in Spanish or foreign affairs. I plan on becoming a Maritime Attorney and would love more than anything to become a civilian maritime attorney for the coast guard. Can anyone attest to the difficulty of being able to get a career like this? Also, any personal stories from experience? I would just like to know how possible this dream is and how I can get there. Thanks! And thanks to all those who serve our country!

I will be taking the patent bar in May (and hopefully passing it) and I would like to get an early start on my job search. I currently handle litigation work for a boutique maritime firm in lower Manhattan. I have a degree in microbiology and worked for Merck for two years after I graduated from undergrad. I'm looking in the New York area (NYC or Long Island). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am an 18 year old female who is just about to graduate from high school. I have found that my passion is to become a Maritime Attorney. I am attending the University of Florida, starting in July of this year. However, since my parents paid for all of their education, they believe I should pay for my college as well. I know law school will be much more expensive than undergraduate school and I am unable to get subsidized loans,so I am looking into other financial options. I have also applied for a variety of scholarships.Recently, I have found how prestigious it is to become a member of the JAG program in any of the military branches. I was wondering if anyone could answer some questions about it for me. Thanks!! 1. Can you join the Navy after undergraduate school, go to OCS, and then apply for JAG? If so, is it more likely you will get in the program having previous military experience? 2. Approximatly how long is the commitment after graduate school ( a total of seven years of study)? 3. Are the chances high to be deployed over seas as a Maritime Lawyer? 4. Is it easier getting a job in the Civilian world after JAG experience? 5. Where would I go to study law in the JAG program? 6. If a woman is answering this, what is it like to put your maternal life on hold until your commitment is over? (assuming you wish to have a family) 7. Any personal stories that could give me some insight? Thanks to all those who serve our country!

I started a job about 4 months ago as a paralegal at a maritime and admiralty law firm. I absolutely hate it here as the main attorney and owner of the firm is a big tyrant and goes on rampages on everyone about the billing every month and yells at everyone about billing time! Obviously, he has $ signs in his eyes and does not care about his employees. In any case, a little while after I started, my fiance and I decided to move to another state, so we sold our house and will moving in 2 months. I always knew this job would be temporary because I hate it so much. I am tired of stressing each day about how I bill my time, as the owner keeps telling us that he is watching what we are entering each day. This job has stressed me out more than any other paralegal job I've had! I would like to quit today, honestly, but I don't want to burn the bridges. But, I know that I am quitting at the end of this month. So, if I gave 3 weeks notice, would that be too much? I would love to drop my notice in on Monday, but should I wait and only give 2 weeks?

All judges being a military tribunal in the Philippines are considered navy admirals. A judge must have the defendant volunteer both subject matter jurisdiction and in personam jurisdiction over to the court. It is the job of an attorney or judge to get the arrested party to sign some document so that happens for the judge is the bonding out contract, and for the attorney the power of attorney contract. All government actions are by contract Best response to always say and nothing more “I refuse to contract with you!” All government actions are by contract. Remain silent by not talking to a police officer, as he does not have legal authority to talk to you. Sovereigns do not have a last name, so never give it out, as a last name is fictional. Your first and middle hyphenated surname is your appellation. Do not allow to be addressed as Mister / Mr. in a court as they are reducing you from being a sovereign over them to a low ranking military personnel, as a judge is an admiral in court of admiralty jurisdiction using maritime law. The judge uses a letter or marque to become an inland privateer/pirate. A police officer’s badge is his letter or marque. Definition: Mister 2. 2) noun, naval a) the official form of address for subordinate or senior warrant officers b) the official form of address for all officers in a merchant ship, other than the captain c) navy the official form of address used by the commanding officer to his officers, esp to the more junior – Source: http://www.wordia.com/mister The Filipino people are delusional to think what they have are civilian courts in their country under the foreign principals of the Roman Catholic pope and Jesuits when in fact they are all military tribunals. The office of the President of the Philippines is that of a Rear Admiral being nothing less than a dictator, which is easily seen by the creation of Statutes and Regulations by Presidential Executive Orders without being voted on by the Congress of the Philippines. This is a very dangerous type of Government that can oppress all rights of the sovereign Filipino people. The reason you are in a military court being court marshaled is the judge address the defendant by the lowly military titles of Mr., Miss, Ms, and Mrs. If you were in a court under the original republic you would be address as sovran, but the public is brainwashed to accept their loss of rights without knowing it has happened for most.

When I grow up i'm pretty sure I want to be a lawyer. I hardly know anything about being a lawyer though. I mean I know I have to go to school for 4 years of college, then 3 years of law school. 7 Years in total. That's fine to me. Perfect actually but anyway . . . I know you have to argue (obviously) and read a lot which i'm good at. I read super quick. And I love arguing because I usually always plead my case best. haha . . . but besides that I don't know anything. anything you know about being a lawyer will help. I just want to get an idea on my future job <3 oh yeah . . . forgot. I know there are different types of lawyers. But which one pays more, and is the best? what are attorney layers?

I got hurt on the job last year. I hurt my back and have L5 S1 disc buldge. My doctors have ruled out a degenerative disc desease. I have an attorney and it is a maritime work injury under the jones act. My employers insurance company has tried to settle with a low ball number. I mean really low. My lawyer told me my Injury is worth over the policy limits. I was willing to settle within the policy limits Wich was the remainder of the policy. I wanted to know before I write my letter to my attorney telling him what I want I just wanted to ask a few questions. 1) I'm gonna demand an amount from the insurance company within the policy limits. If they do not accept I will sue my employer for more than the policy limits. If they deny my demand and I sue and they try to offer my demand at a later date can I deny and still sue?

Hi, I am a pilot about to move up to the regional airlines from my job as a flight instructor. When I was younger (18) I had several criminal records expunged and sealed. To my understanding of state and federal statutes any employee who is not holding a position in public office such as an attorney or police officer need admit that he or she has ever had a criminal conviction if that conviction is sealed or expunged. Are pilots required by law to disclose information regarding sealed and expunged records? If yes or no please post the appropriate federal statute in your response to my question so that I may refer to it for reference. Just curious...I have heard two sides to this story and no proof of either. If you have the black and white on this that would be great. I would really appreciate your help with this to any aviation attorneys out there.
