Start-Up Company Attorney Job Questions & Answers

How do you start a company - what makes it legal? Why would banks give out thousands upon millions of dollars in loans , if that's what they do? Creating an office space for workers, wouldn't buying a land plot with an already made building cost another couple million? I'm not talking small business - I mean corporation. Frankly I can't see how company's start if you don't have money to begin with. Aren't company's made to make money in a sense?

I am interested in starting some type of insurance company for pre-paid legal representation. There are plenty of pre-paid legal services / insurance companies that assist in giving Leal advice but none that actually provide legal representation in court proceedings. A lot of these prepaid legal services / insurance companies that assist in giving Leal advice give a discount on legal representation but is not an actual plan for that reason. How can I start a company or a program that provides this? I want it to work like a health insurance plan instead of having network of doctors there would be a network of lawyers that are broken down into categories, such as family lawyers, divorce lawyers, criminal, person injury lawyers, ect. I would create plans that insurer's could choose from based on there on personal legal needs and wants. How could I do this? I am in Virginia.

I am working in a public limited company, my friends want to start a new company and are inviting me to be a Director in their new start-up. I don't want to quit my current job to join them but would like to be part of the startup. There is no conflict of interest in these two companies. Can I be a Director in the startup and continue to be an employee in the public limited company?

I live in the South but am looking to start my company in Delaware. I know about the forms to be filed and fees to be paid to State's Attorneys General Office, but do not know what else to do. Do I need to own real estate and have an address there, or if I'm not a citizen do I need some kind of "representative" who is based in Delaware to vouch for me? Thanks. Will willingly give t********s to most detailed, concise and informative answer.

I came up with an amazing idea for a company kind of like laser tag where the floor is lava. I have everything figured out in my mind I just want to find out how to make my dream a reality. I'm still in high school but i think that this might be a good idea for a future (not to mention its going to be really fun) if anyone as an idea of how to get my company started it would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

My fiancé started training with a trucking company and quit her job for it. She went eight hours away from SC to Tennessee and the trainers barely helped them. In the emails, it was agreed that the apartments and bus fair and etc would be taken care of while she was there. The only things she had to pay for was supplies and food. After a week, the trainers told them that they need $500 to stay another week and that she owe $1,500 also. If she don't pay it, it will go on her credit as a debt. When I offered to pay it, thought her car payment wouldn't be paid for, my fiancé told me it was too late. She said they had left and said she should have had it with her. Now they are sending her home and she is coming home to no job. Her last employer may be able to let her work part time but many things will be behind and I can not pay for everything alone. Do we have a case if we were to sue the company?

I just started working for an attorney at the beginning of the summer and am wondering when would be an appropriate time to ask for vacation time. After working 6 months? A year? I am the only help he has as of right now so it's obviously harder for me to ask for time off, but I don't plan to for a while as I'm just establishing myself in this job. When is it ok to approach this subject with a new employer, and given my odd situation (me being the only help) what should I reasonably expect?

Do most people who major in a language start in high school? I've been taking French on and off and I've lived there. I would say I understand it pretty well and can speak well, but writing essays about literature would be hard for me. Sometimes I think I would like to get a degree in it, but I think to be effective people usually take it non-stop.

I am from Egypt and offered a job in los angeles, but the employer told me to write him down desired comepensation details and he will study it and then will reply to me. I have two questions: 1) does the word "compensation" mean salary and health insurance ? 2) what is the yearly salary that is considered good in that region.

I am half way finished with law school. I am an older student (I'm 30) and recently married. I am very excited to start a family sooner than later. I was wondering if anyone knew of someone or is someone with the same type of situation as mine and had any suggestions as to the best line of work in law for a woman in my position. I am currently working for a private personal injury firm. Would it be best to work in government? In environmental law? Thank you!

I want to get a job cleaning doctor's offices or something along that line. I need a little extra money a week. Do you know how I would get a job like that? I live in a mid-sized town and I check the help wanted ads in the paper every day and so far I haven't found anything like that. Do you have any suggestions or maybe know of something else I can try to earn some extra cash?

I was injured badly enough to require surgery that I am still not fully recovered from and haven't worked for the past 10 months since the accident. I've lost so much because of someone crashing into us! Time with my son, my family, my job, and a lot of use out of my writing arm.

I am 10 weeks pregnant and only started my new job 14 weeks ago. I am on a 6 months trial period, I haven't told them yet, as I am afraid they will dismiss me. One of my workmates is pregnant and basically our manager isn't too happy about the situation. I am worried sick as I have a mortgage on my own. Any advice would be greatly appreicated.

I have done much paralegal work as well. I could help people with reviewing different types of contracts/policies, trusts, etc. Also, I have a strong litigation background. Of course, not being an attorney, I would never give any legal advice. Perhaps I could somehow help them navigate the very first parts of a lawsuit when they first get sued. I need some clarity as to how I might translate my skills from working for others as an employee to working from home for myself. Please: "real" and serious (and hopefully sincere) answers only. No answers regarding becoming part of someone's "down-line" or up-line or any network marketing stuff. Absolutely No selling products/vitamins/nutritional stuff. If you are into that stuff - - Godspeed and good luck to you, but please bypass this question. I am in Northern California, 70 miles north of San Francisco.
