I'm a graduate from the 911 emergency service communication course and in my job search i came across many employers looking for people experienced with radio operations or the "Radio Operator Certificate" of course, perusing a career in emergency telecommunications, i would love to obtain this! but a quick search in Google soon became .... difficult, even when i refined my search. any way, i would like to know how would i go about in obtaining this certificate in Toronto, Ontario Canada? who offers it? how much? links? the works! thanks!

I am trying to gauge public opinon and I was wondering how much you would expect to be paid for the following job: Working for a call centre based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, the post of Communications Operator you would be expected to answer phone calls from clients and where appropriate contacting the neccesary company to arrange emergency boarding of property, calling engineers out etc. The operator would have to work on a 24hour 7 day week rota, on a shift of 6 on 4 off. So basically you get a call from a client needing some emergency work doing and you are responsible for contacting the emergency workers. Cheers

I just need to know the correct title of a 911 operator. Is is a dispatcher, or what?! I am trying to complete my resume and a cover letter, and cannot find the right site to go to tell me about a dispatcher for 911. If anyone knows what I am trying to do please email me some info on my situation. Is there anyone else that may have some feedback on my situation? I just need to know how can or what website can I get to, so I can understand more about a 911 dispatcher in Toledo, Ohio. I need to also know who I am sending this email to and who to contact. Does anyone know how to get around the Lucas County website so I can get more info?

When you ring the emergency number (911 in the USA etc) you speak to an operator. Are the operators police officer, ambulance officers and firefighters? Or are they just 'ordinary' people? Thanks.

My son has scored very good on the asvab and qualified for the nuclear school. However before he can get in he has to get a wavier signed. He's scheduled to go in for his physical tomorrow and his recruiter wants him to signup for a different MOS before he finds out about the waiver approval. The recruiter has said that he'll put his offer in writing. Should he wait or signup for a different MOS?

It seems that every major nation does have a national language to insure proper communication & some resemblance of united understanding. Why not here? I am not suggesting that no other language may be spoken. But an official single language which everyone is required to know for simplicity. Consider directional emergency information as one example. TUs to all these fine replies whether I agree or disagree is not my intent. I appreciate the thoughts on this issue that has been ignored in our nation and seems to be foremost in other nations for standardization & uniformity of general understanding so that discussions like this can take place.. thanks.
