Trying to get a job as a general warehouse worker and have been waiting for a week for the background check. I can understand a long wait for government or salary positions but dang it's for general warehouse worker (which I've done my whole life) why is this taking so long and when should I expect a call?

I live in orange county and need a job but where do I look? I don't want to work fast food at all. I have general warehouse experience. Heeeelp. That scam sounds dumb. Well the thing is I don't want to talk with people. I'd rather work alone and just do my work

Okay...so I've just learned that my job hunting method of choice (Internet and Job Boards) is one of the least productive methods of job hunting. I also learned that "using the phone book's Yellow Pages to identify fields that interest you, then calling employers in those fields to see if they're hiring for the kind of work you can do." is in the top 5 of most likely ways to get you a job. ....sooo....I got out the Yellow Pages and started going through it. There are 100s of numbers just in the Attorneys section alone. Its mind boggling. What am I supposed to do...just start calling them one by one? What kind of work do I do? Well, directly my specialties are office assistant/clerical, data entry, file clerk and customer service. But I could do most anything if someone gave me a chance...meaning that I've applied to some warehouse jobs too because I think that would be a good job as well and wouldnt mind working outside of the cube. I've also heard that employers dont particularly care for candidates who arent seeking them...their business specifically. Meaning I'm just looking for a job. It's not really important at this time who it is (sure there are exceptions)...but if they have an opening and it works out for my skill set and the job looks good to me (duties, pay, etc)...I'll take it. Yes..that means my resume is a general listing of my employment experiences also. Its not vague..but its not tailored to any specific business. So given these elements how would I go about using this Yellow Page method effectively? - Please advise. Thanks.

I've not had a permanent full time job since 2009. I have worked temporary, sometimes repeat jobs for 1 day at the same place. I have also had to take survival jobs, maybe just for 2 weeks, a month etc. How can I list that on my resume?

I am thinking of going to either UMICH, Georgia Tech, or University of Illionis at Urbana Champaign as a Industrial Engineering major and an economics minor. I am wondering what types of companies and jobs most people get right out of undergrad with this degree. For instance, I know that from Georgia Tech, most people work in consulting companies like Deloitte and Accenture. I am wondering what the other schools' job opportunities are. Thank you for your help in advance

I am graduating in one year from an Ivy League university with a degree in Economics. My long-run plan is law school but I might work to pay off student debt before applying to LS. What jobs are there for Econ majors anyway? It seems most of the stuff we learn is broad and not exactly applicable in the workforce. (My work experience is part-time secretary at a law firm, part-time secretary at a software company, and also part-time telemarketing.) Basically I've worked these jobs while at university. I might plan on taking just one year off. I still have to take the LSAT for law school, but I hope to apply within one year of graduation.

I got charged with a misdemeanor domestic violence charge this past June. It involved me and my sister and she didn't press charges but the city did. And I'm on 2 years of unsupervised probation. Will this lower my chances of getting a job with places such as UPS? Or just any warehouse in general?

I'm 16, I need to get a job and earn some money, but I've never worked before so I don't really know how it all works. First of all does anyone have any suggestions for the sort of place I could work weekday evenings? And how do I go about applying? Do I send my CV to random places I might like to work for, and what would I write to go with it? Can I go into places and ask whether they have vacancies?
