Okay, let's imagine you have just been tasked by the Dutch, English or Spanish to colonise the fictional continent of Lemuria (for the sake of this, lets say it has the same climate as Eastern Australia). The continent is only inhabited by animals and the descendants of lost sailors from Ancient Rome and Greece who live in a society like the Celts of Britain but still with some aspects of their original communities. How would you plan? How many people would you take? What would their professions be? How many soldiers would you take? How many ships? What resources would you take? What buildings would be a priority within the first few months? How would you defend your colony? Which landscape and land formation would you colonise first? (ie. Bay, inlet, beachy land, inland?) Thanks! Oh and what would you call your colony? (You can also rename the continent) And how would you deal with the natives? 1) I would take firstly 350-400 people with me. 2) They would be masons, carpenters, farmers and soldiers. 3) I would take 100-150 soldiers. 4) 10-15 ships. 5) I would bring food to last the voyage and the first few months of colonisation. 6) First building to be built would be a fort, the next would be houses for the colonists, a port and docks and then the official buildings. 7) I would defend the colony with the fort and a series of walls and dykes around the colony. These walls and dykes would also be a priority. Also outpost towers. 8) I would first colonise a natural bay or river inlet. 9) I would name the colony (if Dutch) Nieuw Batavia, (if British) Bayland (due to the large amount of natural bays and inlets), (if Spanish) Nueva Castilla, (if French), Nouvelle Provence. 10) I would forge alliances with any natives willing to, with any hostiles I would send back for at least another 50 men and put them in their place. However I would try and conserve their culture and history a We are from 1600s - 1700s/ Ouragan (or whatever your name is) - Do you not grasp that I was speaking from the context of the colonial days of 1600s - 1700s Europe? Apparently not. Read the question before you answer.

The short description says: This position involves duties such as in receiving, storing, assembling for issue or shipment, and shipping a variety of bin and bulk supplies, materials, and equipment. Performance of the work requires knowledge of the methods used in processing material into and out of the supply system (e.g., tallying types/quantities of items against receiving/shipping documents). Skill in palletizing, stacking, and appropriately arranging/placing items in storage locations.

First off, I'm not looking for a huge payout. I'm looking for justice and compensation for I feel I am owed. I work for a temp agency because its the only way I can find work. I started last october as a material handler. I did that and they liked my work, and I was the moved to the shipping area ( which is supposed to pay more). Anyway, after I did that for about 4 months, they decided I was challenged enough by the role i was in and moved me into the officed as a buyer/planner. I did that for another 3 months before a customer service position came available in the company im contracted to. SO i applied for this job as it pays more that the initial job i was contracted to do. I got the job and have been doing it now for 2 months. So heres the catch, the entire time i've been changing into roles that pay more, my jobe title has never changed from a material handler to anything else, and neither has my pay. I was doing an office job for the pay of manual labor job ( which everyone knows is substancially lower). I made the agency aware of my changes every time i moved, and i also asked for more pay. The girl that was in the customer service position i am in now, made 4 dollars more on the hour than i do, doing th exact same thing. I am actually more qualified than she was ( i only know because i am still friends with her outside of work). I have tried reasoning with both the temp agency and my current place of employment and cannot get anywhere. they ignore my calls now and i really feel like i am being wronged. please give me any information you can. i have an appointment with an employment lawyer after the holidays. Thanks Hi guys and thanks for your input. i live in NC and according to the department of labor, they have to pay me according to the job im preforming. i signed a contract as a material handler yes im aware of that, however, i preformed other jobs because i was made to do so. the department of labor says im correct in thinking i should be paid more, so i think im going to do more research.

We're flying USA 3000, from Tampa to Detroit, in about 3 weeks. The "Crate Mate" thing is supposedly made of heavy duty backpack like material that bolts to the dogs crate, it holds all paperwork required to fly, and spare water and food, in case of any problems. I read about it on this website: http://www.bcrescue.org/flying.html

Hello everyone, I worked at a biotech company for 4 years as a material handler (shipping and receiving) and the company recently shut down. I've been searching at different biotech companies but can't find anything that has to do working in the warehouse. I've search on websites such as monster.com, careerbuilder.com and biospace.com as well. Biotech are more for scientist not people from my field. I've been to science job fairs and felt discourage because non of the companies had any openings for me. I tried networking as well but still no openings. I want to continue my path in working in biotech but I can't find anything. By the way, my resume is updated but I can't find any companies with openings to send them out to.

I work for a temp agency. I was contracte to do manual labor for 10/hr. I was moved to the shipping department, then to the office as a buyer/ planner. Now I'm doing a customer service representative job with the same company. My title has never changed from a material handler to anything else. And all of these positions are supposed to pay more on the hour. I called the board of labor and they say I am supposed to be paid for the job I am doing no matter what it is. I know there are different pay rates because a fellow temp changed roles to a different department an they adjusted her pay accordingly. The company knows that I am capable of doing the hard jobs that require brain smarts so they are making me so so. Yet I'm being paid for a manual labor job. The last person in te role I am currently in was paid 4 dollars more on the hour. Are they discriminating against me for being a temp?

Hola Canada :D I currently live in the United States and have decided that I want to move to Canada. However, while doing research for Canada migration it came up that DWI/dui is considered a criminal act in Canada. When I was 18/19 years old(27years old now), I had a DWI that was reduced to a simple diversion (I had to attend rehab-an alternative by the court). Can I still get a residency or work permit? I recently graduated from college with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice-Can my degree help dismiss my DWI and be granted permission to enter Canada? If I was to enter the country do you guys think I could get a job as a Police Officer? I also have lots of experience in Warehouse/Material Handler-shipping/receiving :D

Ive been working through a temp agency for awhile now with a company because i cant find work elsewhere. i started out being a material handler, they moved me to shipping. then back in the office as a buyer/planner. i Don’t have a business degree. In fact im still in college. Im taking classes for a associate in science. Anyway the company started training me to do this job for “experience”. Then I was supposed to go back to the shipping department. There is a job open as a buyer/planner full time they have interviewed about 4 people for. They require a bach in business for the job. I don’t have this, not even close. However im good at this job. I received the message below from my boss. Does this mean they plan on hiring me, or just giving me the work load without the title or pay? Any opinions? Allen, How is your workload? Do you feel up to speed on what you currently have? I’m getting ready to pass over a new set of suppliers to you and want to make sure your good to go. If this set goes well in 2-4 weeks after we will give you the full complement. Todd

Http://www.opednews.com/articles/October-Surprise-Evidence-by-Robert-Parry-110714-678.html October Surprise Evidence Surfaces By Robert Parry In November 1991, as Newsweek and The New Republic were ridiculing the idea that Ronald Reagan's campaign chief William Casey might have made a secret trip to meet Iranians in Madrid in 1980, a senior State Department official was informing George H.W. Bush's White House that Casey indeed had gone to Spain on a mysterious visit. State Department legal adviser Edwin D. Williamson told associate White House counsel Chester Paul Beach Jr. that among the State Department "material potentially relevant to the October Surprise allegations [was] a cable from the Madrid embassy indicating that Bill Casey was in town, for purposes unknown," Beach noted in a "memorandum for record" dated Nov. 4, 1991. In other words, as Newsweek and The New Republic were making the October Surprise story into a big joke in mid-November 1991, Bush's White House had information that contradicted the smug self-certainty of the two magazines. Not surprisingly, the White House made no effort to clarify the record. I found Beach's memorandum among about 4,800 pages of documents identified by the George H.W. Bush presidential library as related to the so-called October Surprise controversy, the longstanding mystery of whether the Reagan-Bush campaign in 1980 contacted Iranians behind President Jimmy Carter's back, thus undermining his efforts to gain freedom for 52 American hostages. Carter's failure to pull off an "October surprise" by winning release of the hostages was a key factor in Reagan's landslide victory in 1980. Reagan got another boost when the Iranians released the hostages immediately after he was sworn in on Jan. 20, 1981. Though Reagan talked tough about Iran -- and his handlers suggested that fear of him was why the Iranians surrendered the hostages on Inauguration Day -- the reality was different. His administration soon was giving secret approval to Israel to ship U.S.-manufactured weaponry to Iran. It had the look of a payoff. Reagan's politically risky move of secretly arming Iran was nearly exposed when one of the Israeli flights strayed into Soviet airspace in July 1981 and crashed. To cover the administration's tracks, misleading press guidance was issued, according to Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East Nicholas Veliotes. The U.S.-Israeli arms pipeline to Iran stayed secret from the American people until November 1986 when -- despite Reagan's long-running insistence that he would never trade arms with a terrorist state like Iran -- the operation was exposed. The scandal became known as the Iran-Contra Affair. Yet even after the existence of the secret U.S.-Israeli arms pipeline was revealed, the Reagan-Bush administrations and congressional Republicans kept the investigative focus on the later chapter of the arms shipments, from 1985 to 1986, not the earlier phase that Veliotes and other insiders said could be traced back to Campaign 1980. The reasons were obvious. While the secret arms sales to Iran in 1985-86 were legally questionable, any deal that predated Reagan's inauguration as president could be viewed as treasonous.
