 | I'm going to grad school for Transportation Engineering (a specialty within Civil Engineering) next year and will be done with my Masters after the Fall 2012 semester ends. What I really want to know are what kinds of jobs are out there besides working for the DOT (private contractors, consulting companies, etc.). It's just tough being 21 and not completely knowing what I want to do for the rest of my life. Any advice on the Civil Engineering field?

 | I'm about to finish my Btech in Civil engineering and i've written GATE exam this year. With my rank, I have a chance of getting call letter from NTPC (with payscale around 45000 per month). And i can get Mtech seat in any IIT. What kind of jobs can i get if i do my Mtech in Transportation engineering? I don't want to go back for jobs in PSUs after finishing my Mtech. Can i get any better jobs than PSUs after finishing Mtech? Are there any research kind of jobs which offer better payscale (in transportation engineering)? Or can i get any job in abroad?

 | I'm a rising senior civil engineering major at UMD. I realized I hate engineering and don't want to do as a career but I decided to finish the degree in it since I'm already a senior. What non-engineering jobs can I get with an engineering degree? Thanks.

 | My friend (an Indian) has got Senior Software Engineer job in Emirates. His posting will be in Dubai.
They are offering him
1,17,000 Dirham per annum + 2 Years Employment Visa + Joining Ticket+ Accomodation for 10 days
How is this job? He is wondering whether to accept it or not.
How much salary do you think will be suitable?
He is in talk with them. They may agree for transportation. If he gets transportation but not housing, then how much salary would be ok?
Anyway, I am suggesting to him to reject the offer.

 | I'm overworked and underpaid and the work is tedious and boring. All those advanced math and physics classes for this?
Who out there likes being in Civil Engineering and what do you do so I can change jobs.
I'm a Transportation Engineer right now.
Um, Chums. I don't think those are even complete sentences.

 | So, I am required to do this project for school, and I need to know how many transportation engineers would be employed in a small company, and how many in a large company. I also need to know the salary of a beginner transportation engineer, and that of an experienced one. I have searched the web, and phoned around, but have gotten no where, so if any of you happen to be or used to be, or know anything about transportation engineers, I would appreciate so much if you could help!

 | I lived about 8 years in Paris as a youth, developing full fluency, but I moved back prior to high school, to ease the transition into American Universities. I have just graduated from the University of California, Davis and my new job as a Transportation Engineer is boring me to death...A recent trip back to France rekindled my love of Paris, and I really want to work and live there sometime.
I am applying for the foreign service, but I do not have too high of hopes as many more people apply than get selected, and I don't have good experience in management or leadership, two requisite catagories...I would love to work as an FSO, and I know I could, but the selection process might get the best of me...
Does anyone know American firms that hire french-speaking people - and that may send them overseas to do business? What about French firms over here - is there a way to get in with Bic Corp, for example, and have them move me overseas?
Thanks for any help...

 | Specifically in either the structural engineering or environmental engineering sub-specialties.
For example, what classes would I take, what exams are required? I know I'll have to take the eit and pe exams. Is grad school recommended? Would volunteering someplace like the peace corps or engineers without borders be beneficial in regards to future employment?

 | I am interested in mastering in engineering but I have undergraduate degrees in more liberal science areas (urban planning and geography). Would it be difficult to transition to this? I already know I would have to take a certain amount of undergrad courses before any grad courses.

 | I'm planning to attend a college that offers Air Force ROTC and graduate as a second lieutenant. However, I'd like to know what kind of jobs would be available to me once I do graduate. Could I be a doctor? If so, would I have to go to med school at some point? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

 | I am really an open book when it comes to jobs. I am not too mechanical, so maitenance is probably out. I would like something medical, but I heard those take forever to come by, and I would also love something like Public Relations...etc. What types of jobs could I get that won't mean a year long wait!
