Maintenance Technician Job Questions & Answers

For instance I looked up apartment maintenance technician on payscale. Says you can make $50,000 a year. Then I cross checked it with jobs on craigslist and the highest anyones paying for it is $20 an hour, and even that high of pay is hard to find. It's usually between 12-15 an hour. How do I get real figures?

Need some advice from electricians (UK) out there.. I got a foundation degree in electrical and mechanical engineering(Philippines), also got years of experience as maintenance technician from one company back home. But I found it hard to even land a job interview in this field. I was thinking of taking c&g2381, would this be of great help for my career?

I am in the midst of a career change, i am not un happy with my current job, i just feel i can be doing more for my community. I am currently a building maintenance technician, and work for a municipality. I don't have the time to go to a community collage to take criminal justice, work, and go to the academy. I plan on joining next fall or winter, so any books to give me an edge would help.

And don't give me the PC "they are all great" answer. I know there are jobs out there that everyone is like "f*ck that MOS." Like maybe a port-a-potty maintenance technician or something.

I've dreamed of working for NASA my entire life, and my two goals would to either work on the space shuttle or work in Mission Control. I want to know what sort of credentials and training would be required for such a job. I'll be training in the fall at an Aeronautics Institute to be an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, and I plan on furthering my education beyond that. Thanks! =)

So I have been looking at trade schools. I am looking into Diesel Mechanic, Regular Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance, Electronics, Building Maintenance and truck driving. What career would be good? My fiance worked with an apartment complex over the past year as a maintenance technician. We lived there as well from February 15th of last year until this past weekend. We gave a 30 day notice for the vacating of the apartment (we really moved on the 16th but paying for the whole month of february anyways) and he gave a 2 week notice of resignation for the job. We lived in Maryland. (but now PA) The rent has always came out of his check, half every 2 weeks. The security deposit required was only $100 which we paid when we moved in. We did leave some things "damaged" in the apartment, like a couple of the walls were not painted back, and a few other small things like holes that weren't spackled, only because we had ran out of time. He went to check my account this morning and my check was not deposited in my account. Ever since he set up direct deposit it has always been in the account by 4 AM on Friday. He checked several times throughout the day - nothing. Unfortunately he did not have his cell phone with him today to call, and it was too late when he got home. My question is, are they allowed to withhold his check for anything that has to do with the apartment? I would think not, I thought they would have to keep the security deposit and bill us afterwards for any additional amount that is necessary. The apartment and his employment are two different things. So is this legal? What action should I take?
