Shift Leader Job Questions & Answers

I'm the only shift leader @ my job & it's not working out. I always work hard & never have a problem w/ ppl telling me what to do. My motto at any job is to make my manager's job as easy as possible. Which also includes not whining or complaining about bad CSRs. Two of my representatives are the complete opposite and just think their job is cashiering and nothing else, they seem incompetent sometimes. They can't do anything w/o being told exactly what to do everyday they work. When they finally do something and my boss finds something wrong w/ it, they blame me for not giving detailed instructions. I've never want to be the shift leader that's hated but its backfiring on me, they're running me over. Everytime I work w/ them I finish late and I get in trouble for it. I really think they need to be dealt w/ in some way but my boss does nothing about it. How do I use my authority w/o being an ass and how do I get my boss to realize that there's truly a problem?

I just got hired as a shift leader at Pizza Hut. The manager told me that I would be starting off as a regular employee, then start taking classes at the corporate office to become certified as a shift leader. He did not tell me the starting pay for either position, team member and shift leader. I have another job offer, so I'm trying to decide which job would be best to take, based on pay. So does anyone know what a team member and a shift leader get paid at Pizza Hut?

I just started my job a little under a month ago. I know a 'shift leader' needs to know how to do all the positions (cook, drive through, front cashier), count the drawers, do the cash drop, count inventory, and waste. Is there anything else I would need to know? I currently work at a set schedule, if i became a shift leader, would that change? Are there any tests or time requirements for the position? Thanks!

At a restaurant or fast food, how much do Assistant Managers or Shift leaders have to take on? I'm just wondering if with my limited experience (1-2 years) and being only 18 years old, if I could get a job such as that. and I'm wondering what I'd need to be prepared for if I did get the job. Only serious answers please.

I'm a first year college student, and I'm desperately in need of a job. I found a posting for a job for a shift leader, and even says applicants must have previous shift lead experience. I've never been able to have a leadership position at any of my previous jobs, but I'm genuinely a hard worker and anyone will vouch for that. I feel that I have the qualifications necessary the job posting asked for, but would it be wrong for me to apply for this job since I technically have NO on the job leadership experience? Or should I respond to the post with a confident message saying I think I would be able to handle the job?

So it's 2am here and I need to be up at 6 to be in work for 7. I am a carer and have 6 females at my workplace who will require personal care. Somehow I am the only female staff member capable of doing this on tomorrow. I am also the shift leader, and it's my job to organise everyone else. I have just begun vomiting and feel awful. Obviously it is too late to try to cover the shift, but I don't feel like I can work at all. I've rung work to confirm that I am the shift leader and only female. I have also texted my boss, as we are quite friendly, to see if she has any suggestions. I suspect she's asleep however and won't see my message until 9ish tomorrow. What am I supposed to do in this situation? I feel so sick. In less than 4 hours I am supposed to be walking to work and the thought of that is making me cry with despair because I feel so, so unwell.

I have been working at Subway for close to 3 years. I personally believe i have accomplished everything there is inside the Sandwich Artist field. Currently a shift leader, turned down a job as manager. Every month we get a Field Consultant who visits our store and inspects and helps the store improve. Honestly I dont want to become a Subway Manager, but i do want to go above the Sandwich Artistry. Does anyone know how hard it is to obtain a Field Consultant Job? or how i would go about applying? thank you.

Hello, i got hired at the airport at pizza shop and how would I start the process of moving up in position. The positions are service, cashier, food prep, pizza chef. All the shift leaders and managers are well known in being service, cashier, and pizza chef. Im not to sure about food prep. All the shift leaders say they love to work with my because they say i work very well and get the job done with accuracy and good timing, and there's another guy that has the same positions as me and all i hear is that i do an amazing job compared to this other guy. What would I have to do to get recognized by the shift leaders and managers that i would like to start moving up in position where i can either start having more responsibility around the store so i can move up in positions. I got the job starting at 9 dollars an hour and would like to make more. i don't think any school would be a factor. Any tips would be very apriciated! Thanks!

I was told Winco employees (cashiers/shift leaders) get paid well. Does that mean like at LEAST $35k+ or a lot for a first a job that doesn't require a lot of qualifications and skills?

I was promoted shift leader at my job this past December but two weeks later my supervisor quit without telling me I was shift leader until my new supervisor brought it up about a week or so after the previous one left. During that time, my manager was off on maternity leave but she came back several days after I was told that I officially did have the shift leader job. However, even though it was written in my evaluation they gave me in December, I never got my raise that was suppose to come with the position and I asked my manager about it several times but she never got around to doing anything. This past week I finally went to corporate myself since it's been two months and still no raise and I couldn't even get anyone to see me. They just told me to leave my information and they would get back to me this past Thursday. When this past paycheck came, I saw they still did not give me my raise and I told my manager I wasn't going to work anymore until they did. She immediately started calling and emailing people from corporate who did nothing but promise to add it with next weeks paycheck. I then asked my manager to ask them about the money they already was suppose to give me since December but they said they didn't do any kind of back pay so even though they have it in writing that I've been crew leader for the past two months, they're still not going to make up any of their mistakes. Also, I've been working at the company for almost two years and have not received a vacation either. When I asked my manager to ask them about that as well, they said I would have to work over 1,500 in one year alone to get any sort of vacation, knowing that the only people who can qualify for this are the managers. I'm thinking about talking to an attorney over all of this because all this company does is screw people over. The only reason why I won't quit is because I've already had two evaluations that put me up to $8.10 an hour and I don't want to find another job that's going to knock me back down to $7.75, especially since I'm starting school this May and plan on moving away in December.

I was working as a shift leader with one worker, the dayshift called in and the general manager was cussing me out in front of customers and employee that showed up. I was trying to do the customer part of job when he was doing this. And I went to clockout and he said that if i clocked out and went home to never come back to work. 5 years later, i apply to new jobs from time i was fired up until today, but everyone says i am on the no hiring list. Is this legal and if not then how do i go about getting closure on this issue and off the no hiring lists?

I informed my shift leader at a fast food business i take xanax for anxiety and that it makes me work slow sometimes. She informed the managers (which I didnt mind), however they are wanting paperwork from the prescribing doctors and such because I am now a "work hazard" and that I "create an unsafe working environment". That really offended me. I think I've had it with the job and am quitting in the next few days. Has something like this happened to you?

My shift leader (manager) makes a lot of pizzas. During a lunch he gets roughly 8 to 12 an hour. i get 5.50 an hour plus tips to deliver pizzas. When there are caters he gets to take the extras and he steals some of mine. He says that he don't think that i would have been back on time to take them. When the Manager is there he feels that i should tip him 3.00 a day when i have caters. I work two slow days a week and a third on friday with him. there is another driver who work two busier days and a friday with him. i feel that he should not get the tips because he is getting to select his deveries when i am on a delivery. he gets his better salary, more better hours, more hours (pay) to make the pizzas, gets the overflow of deliveries, steals our deliveries and does not have to do the crappy side work that drivers have to do. His deliveries are closer to the store. When days are slow i suffer and he doesn't. Does he deserve a tip? How?

I'm,a college sophomore I work fast-food and we have a new shift leader, he is young about 20 years old and when we have a rush of customers he just stands around with his hands in his pocket, and if we are short a cashier, the manager takes that position and does those duties, but when it's time to clean up and stock he places me in that positon and tells me I'm responsible for both sections while he goes in the back and sleeps. I don't think this is fair.He was walking around saying 'If anybody snitch Ill find out and make them wanna quit; But the district manager said if they are making ur job hard let him know and I wouldnt have to worry about anything.Oh and by the way, many employee have been snitching that he sleeps on the job, but guess what I HAVE PICTURES! I snapped them with my camera phone just in case he and I have any problems.Should I report him to the district manager or what?

At my job at dunkin donuts I only work part-time as a crew member and should be making 7.25 but I'm still making the 8.50 I was making when I was a shift leader before I demoted myself back to part time. Could I get in trouble if I don't tell them or should I just let it go?
