I have tried to find job posting about graphics design for entry level job. however, most of them demand about 3 years experience. I have met most of their requirement for graphic design in computer software. I also have three internship experience in different companies during my school which was related to their demand field : advertising, newspaper, publishing . Is it appropriate for me to apply job which required at least 1 or 2 years of experience? I have hard time trying to find entry job in this field. can you give me some resources about graphic designer entry level job. I hope to know which place has a demand for graphic designer in US.

I've been told that I should try graphic design in college (I'm a junior in high school now) & as a career. But, what does a graphic designer do? What kinds of jobs would one who majors in graphic design in college have after graduating? What classes should I take now to prepare to major in it in college if it's something I want to do? Thanks in advance! =) P.S. - If you think I'll get better answers in another category (Y!A suggested this one and the Visual Arts category), please let me know. Thanks!

I am thinking of becoming a graphic designer, but can they have multiple jobs? For example, can they work for a magazine company to design page layouts? Or can they do web design? Can they design animated characters? Do they have to stick to one job only and work for a certain company for the rest of your working life? Or can they go from place to place. Is a bachelor's degree necessary? How much is their salary? I would really appreciate your help! Also, what classes should i take when attending University?

I'm interested in the field of art and I see that many places offer graphic designer jobs. I've also heard that some graphic design careers allow you to illustrate things by hand. Is this true? If I like to draw characters, and other random things, by hand, is a graphic design job a good way to go? Are there any advertising/marketing jobs that need people who have a creative illustrating ability? If there is, what is this type of career called? Please help.

I'm interested in graphic design as a major in college, but I'm wondering what kind of work one does. I'm interested in several different things, like film and video games, among others. Are there any places for graphic designers there? Second part: I might major in English and minor in graphic design. Would I still be able to get into those fields, or work for an advertising agency or something, if I did that?

I was wondering this, because I saw some works by professionist graphic designers and they're not so different from what I'm able to do. The problem is I studied graphic design in school for 5 years in Italy.. but in Italy we study especially theory so I don't know how to make a "workbook" or something practical. I mean... I know how to do, because in the previous years I made something, but I'm not sure how to deal certain things in a working field. Any advice?

I am a year one design student, and my major is advertising. So I am learning graphic design and advertising in one setting. As a young grasshopper, I am constantly searching for relevant news, information, tips, and ideas to help me learn. I've been eyeing IDPURE Magazine (Swiss), and Creative Review. A one year subscription to IDPURE, however, is only 4 issues. Is there a different magazine that will suit my needs? I know of Computer Arts, but I don't want a magazine focused heavily on tutorials that I could find elsewhere online. I am shifting more towards Advertising, with a graphic design influence, if that makes sense. Could anyone offer any advice? PS - I am in Canada, and there are no good American/Canadian advertising/graphic design magazines from what I hear.
