Assistant Marketing Manager Job Questions & Answers

Hello All, I have a interview Friday for a Assistant Marketing Manager Position. I have a BFA in fashion with 4 yrs of design and 1 yr of Brand Management. I am a specialist in Intimate Apparel because that has been my focus for the past 5 yrs. I am going up against Business students who have the business skills that I do not. One thing I do have is more work experience, and a strong knowledge of the product while most business students have no idea of the process of fashion. I am flying out for the interview so thats a good sign I was told but I want to ace this interview but also feel confident that this is a job I can perform. By the way I am very resourceful. I am very good at finding the answer. How can I stand out?

I want to get my first assistant manager job at Radio Shack. I have worked at a Super Target for a year. They trained me in 13 different positions including everywhere from backroom, flow team, instocks, hairlines, softlines, market, signing, presentation, cashier, cart attendant (to clean up chemical spills), guest services, and also electronics. I know the bases of sale and I am very good at taking on a lot at one time. I know in a position like that I would definitely make more than I do now... but I just wanted to know if I would even be considered.. please help?

Would it be Marketing assistant, Market analyst, or even a Marketing Manager. None of these perhaps. I will have had internships during summer breaks in college but never a full year or more of just working for a company. I am getting ready to go to college for Marketing and am planning to get my MBA, so I was just curious what to expect out of my education when I get out. *I know I asked this in Higher education, but it was supposed to be in the Business section.

I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Marketing and will be starting my MBA following. I am wondering what different professions are out there and a job description with them for those with a marketing degree. I know of these: Marketing Manager Marketing Assistant Manager Brand Manager Investment Bankers What are many others that I may be interested in? I would like to research these different professions and what they entitle. Thanks for the help.

I'm in Vietnam. I have gone to work for 2 multinational company as P&G and SC Johnson, but I can't find any sponsorship from my company for this studies as my level-an Assistant Brand Manager-is not enough for them to sponsor such studies. Only very special cases like Marketing Manager may expect to ask for this. I try to contact some scholarship programs. I met all of their requirement on studies expectation but I lack English certificates as they require.I can't attend some academic English course to get IELTS or TOEFL certificate because I busy with my job to earn a living.Where can I find a sponsor or scholarship for my studies. I know I may get some difficulties with my English for several first months abroad. But I'm confident I can overcome that and become an excellent MBA student in Marketing. I 'm sure that I can make a big contribution for any company that recognize my capability and willing to sponsor me for that MBA course.

I am 9 months into a new job and have found that the Marketing Manager is clueless on most marketing fundamentals, i have found that the MM has taken credit for my work and i continue to go unpraised. I know i have the experience and skills to move on to an executive role but im not sure if i should look elsewhere or try to get a promotion internally, is it too soon?? I feel the job is going nowhere, i.e i have 2 degrees and i am doing menial admin work...i am sick of being an assistant! How can i approach this and get the autonomy i need without having to look elsewhere?

I had my first interview with Wal-Mart for assistant manager on Tuesday, it was the behavioral kind. Questions and examples and stuff. I assume its just to see if I have integrity issues and if I am able to be trained. I think it went well, of course afterwards I thought it could have went better... Anyway, I had it with the store manager and with the market electronics manager (who was on the phone via conference). They told me they will call me back shortly for a second interview. Now I am impatient and this job means a lot to me, given my career status. So I am wondering should I be the one to follow up or should I wait it out? I already sent the store manager a thank you, and faxed to market manager a thank you. I am guessing the second interview would be the market manager since he is the decision maker. This isnt a one postion job either, its to enter the training course. Anyone, go through these with Wal-Mart??

But i also see that a Bachelor's in Business Admin with an emphasis in Marketing is preferred. Please someone help me!!

I'm thinking about applying for an Assistant Brand Manager job. It sounds varied and interesting, but I'm not sure if I'm suited for a career in Marketing. I'm polite and friendly but not talkative. I'm just starting out and haven't had any experience of negotiating/presenting in my first job. What do you need to do well in this career? Thanks!

I feel like I really want to be a manager in marketing, but i don't know what degrees to get and how to get there. I'm planning on going to community college for 2 years then transferring, and getting my b.s. in philosophy. I would then get a MBA in marketing. Is this a good path or are there better.

Here are some background details about me. School: University of Wisconsin - Madison Major: Retailing Year in school during the summer: Junior, soon to be Senior This past summer, I had been looking for an internship or full-time job to pay the bills. I went into an interview to be an assistant manager for Walmart. After telling them that I needed some sort of internship to graduate (it's a requirement), the Market Human Resource Manager went and created this internship for me (it never existed), paid me an hourly wage, and created a training path. I had such an enriching experience there, but I don't think I would ever want this to be my full-time career job. So anywho, the Human Resource Manager had exclaimed at the beginning of the internship that he wanted to show his boss that the investment into interns is worth it if I could just sign on for him. I didn't want to jump into signing my life away at that point, so I told him I would have to think about signing a letter of intent. I never did, but I told him I would be interested in interviewing during school for a full-time position. I sent him an email in October and he was supposed to get back to me with a date, but never did. Fast forward to now. I just got done interviewing, and I have accepted a full-time professional job at the headquarters of a competing company (no, not Target). They have offered me more money, a sign on bonus, better hours and vacation time... just overall better everything. I know this is the right choice. I feel bad, though, telling this Market Human Resource Manager that I found somewhere else after he went through all this work to coordinate the internship and stuff. My question is how can I tell this MHRM I accepted a job somewhere else without burning bridges? If it doesn't work out at my new job, I would fall back on working for him. Thanks for answering.
