Assistant Project Manager Job Questions & Answers

Sort by:
Hello everyone, I am a recent graduate with a bachelors in business and technology management. I have been looking for work for the past few months as a business analyst, assistant project manager and a few others. I have been unsuccessful although I think I have a great resume, lots of experience and a good education. The only jobs that I was able to find were with sales. However, with sales, I feel that my education is worthless. I do not see myself as a salesman. My question is, what kind of positions should I be looking?

Hey all, so I have never been in a situation like this before. I have been offered a job as Project Manager Assistant that pays $12-14/hr which is low because I have work experience and I have my Bachelolrs Degree in Business. The thing is they offered me the job through email but did not state what they want to pay me. How do I ask them how much are you going to pay me? Other thing, this other job I wanted for past 2 years at a utility company which pays around 35k-40k part time contacted me to take a test scheduled on April 6th Saturday. I find out if I pass the same day. If I pass I dont want the other job because pay, company size etc. Plus I might be contacted by the Utility company to work with in 2weeks or from what people's experience has been. Problem is I was offered the job through email with out them telling me how much im going to be offered on Wednesday and I am bearly going to respond today Friday because I mentioned I was going to give them my references today, so I am planning to respond today with Appreciation, yada yada. At the end of the last interview they said the job would start in 2 weeks from that day. How do I ask nicely that I will be able to give them answer in those 2 weeks??? OR DO I SAY YES TO THE JOB, WONT WORK YET BECAUSE job starts April 8th, my TEST FOR BETTER JOB IS APRIL 6TH. ACCEPTING THIS LOW PAY JOB WILL BE DEPENDENT IF I DONT PASS MY OTHER JOBS TEST . I HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR MY SELF RIGHT??? NOT IN THEIR BEST INTEREST BUT HEY.

I started a new job as a 'project manager' my official title is 'project specialist' but I do all admin work. I don't work on any projects. I help users with problems with my system that I work on. I inform users of delays and such... its more of a systems admin job without looking into the technical aspects of this... what kind of job do you think this is ? and what should I do to move to the next level as I feel I can do much more than this ? Thanks!

I have a background in IT development and project management and am looking to make a career change. I'm interested in doing something related to Education, but do not necessarily want to teach. What other options are out there? I am willing to get additional training, so please don't assume I need (or want) to use any of my technical skills.

I don't mean to disperage any administrative assistants out there but I honestly wouldn't want a career as an administrative assistant. I just think that only losers end up with that job title. Sorry I know that most of them are good people but I just dont think it that it leads to any legitimate career. Any how heres my story, I've been unemployed for 7 months now going on 8. It has been about 3 years since I graduated college with a psych degree. I've had such a shitty career history after college is not even funny! An overnight shift in a state psychiatric hospital and a 100?ommission sales job in the financial services industry which is what got me in this current situation. I've spent last few months looking for work and the reason why I've taken so long besides being a shitty job market is that I wanted to get the "right job" that will get me a great career track. Well, I've contacted the hiring manager in regards to a sales operation administrative posting that I saw. I figured that maybe I could get into actual sales if I proof to be good at the sales operations job. However, they came with a counter offer of an administrative assistant. I havent gotten a solid offer per se they just told me about the opportunity and to think about whether I would want to pursue it. After being unemployed for so long I don't think I have much of a choice. However, I want to make the right decision for my career. By the way the administrative assistant position is at a Big 4 firm. Also, ideally I would want a career as a business executive within sales. So should I pursue the Aministrative Assistant job? And perhaps maybe build my network within the firm, get an MBA and try to get promoted from within? Any advice would be helpful! P.S I know that I'm not a stellar candidate on paper but what I was hoping for was to get an entry level job within sales at a great company and work my way up. All I wanted was an entry level professional sales job.

I live in a small city with not many administrative assistant opportunities right now other than being a receptionist. Thankfully, I'm employed, but the job is unchallenging and doesn't use many of my skills. I realize times are tough, so I want to use this time productively to improve my value. I have several years experience as an executive and department assistant, as well as project management. I am advanced in MS Office programs. What other kinds of skills/classes should I focus on?

I know that you can get almost any job with a Mathematics degree, and I also that Mathematics graduates have the LOWEST levels of UNEMPLOYMENT, but which jobs can they get exactly? Specific details please? I know that you can be a maths teacher/lecturer, and that's obvious, but I really don't want to go into teaching. I also know that you can have a job in Finance and Accounting, but they are also obvious.
