I recently got married, but my contractor position is set to expire soon, so I'm scrambling to find a new job. Can you offer any suggestions on how I can more effectively look for a marketing job in the San Jose area? I usually apply online (HotJobs, etc.), but that doesn't seem to be very effective. I've also thought about going through an employment agency, but I don't know how effective they are. I have a few years of marketing experience, so I'm at that 'tweener stage: not entry-level, but not management level either.

From what I gather these are typically entry level jobs. What kind of work history would you need to get this kind of position? I'm planning to partake in internships in college, would this be enough for me to net one of these after graduation? Also am I right in assuming that these are typically entry level positions or are they more often dead end jobs.

I have a Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field, but I am considering a career change. I've researched Accountancy and am very interested in this field. The only thing I'm concerned about right now is that I hear entry level job competition is fierce. How bad is it? Also, I am considering taking the required Accounting classes to sit for the CPA at a community college. It is accredited. How negatively would this affect my chances of landing jobs in the field?
