In the Web/Software/Systems development world, what is the difference between a product manager, a business analyst, and a end-user representative? It seems they are all different names for the same position, but maybe not.
1 answer - Asked By: KAnalyst101 - 3/4/2007
There is so many opinions out there about what the difference is between these two and which one has more oppurtunities and so on. I would love to know what the most direct difference is between these two fields, they seem so similar. Obviously the name Operations Manager hints at managing, but to me it seems like it is a more business-like approach to industrial engineering.

I would also be interested to know which types jobs I would be able to do without continuing any further education. I have to answer a supervisory questionnaire for a management position in engineering via email. Typically, I am confident during interviews but would like some input/good vocab from the experienced individuals out there since this time a written answer is required. This way I can combine my answers with yours and hopefully I can get this job! The following are questions that the company is asking prior to the interview. Thank you in advance! 1. Describe supervisory experiences. 2. Describe your roles and responsibilities in new product development and/or support of an existing product. 3. Describe how you have built and led an effective team. How have you developed staff? 4. Describe the most recent difficult staff management problem you faced and the steps you took to resolve it. 5. Describe your experiences transferring designs into a manufacturing environment.
