What is the difference between Public Relations Specialists and Public Relations Managers? Other then the fact that the Public Relations Specialists is a hot job and that the Public Relations Managers get paid way more. You see I'm looking into careers and what classes I should take, etc. and I don't really know the diferences. Can anyone help?

I am a high school senior and wish to become a public relations specialist in a company. I've researched several paths to take, but I wish to attend a business school and major in marketing. I've heard from several sources that this way is acceptable, and that an actual major in public relations (my business school doesn't offer this major) is unnecessary. Do you think the odds of getting a job as a public relations specialist, if I perform well in school, while majoring in marketing are good?

So, I am currently going to a community college. I am interested in being a human resources specialist and a public relations specialist. I would get a public relations or communications degree, but I have certain schools I can transfer to and none offer those degrees. I enjoy psychology and I know a degree in psych will allow me to do human resources, but will it qualify for public relations? Any other degrees I can get that will work for both jobs?

What kind of jobs can you get with a Journalism Degree with a Japanese Minor? I'm not really sure. That's what I'm planning to do next year for college. Reasons why I picked these 3 as my options: I have always been interested in psychology. If the whole marketing thing doesn't work out i want to go back to school and get a degree and job in graphic design. Public relations because public relations specialist is one of my jobs options. Hello! I graduated in Dec. '05 with a BS degree in Communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. I don't want to go into a broadcasting job, but I got so far along in my degree I just finished it to have it. I'm now considering the idea of going back to school and getting a master's in PR to make myself marketable in the corporate world. My problems with PR are that I have never liked the idea of manipulating the public. PR always appeared to be a rather sleazey idea (no offense intended) I think that if I worked for a non-profit, a school system or a hospital, it would be easier to deal with and more fullfilling to me. Does anybody here presently or formerly work in Public Relations? What is a typical day like? Do you like it/hate it and why? If you left, why did you leave and what are you doing now? Sorry for the loaded question. Do you look at PR in a negative light as a profession?

I am considering a career in public relations and a minor in journalism. I know a little bit about the career but truth doesn't come till your actually in it and experiencing it. I would live to hear from people who are in it already. What the hours are like, is it a good career for a mother? My career choices are english teacher or PR. I know I would make more money in PR. Any advice or information would be appreciated!!
