Sports Marketing Job Questions & Answers

Hi all, My name is Daniel and I am a highschool student interested in business and sports. Because of this, I was wondering what kinda careers are in the field of "sports management". I'm not talking about stuff like becoming a GM (general manager) of the Yankees or anything, just what kind of management jobs are there for big sports franchises, how difficult they are to get into, and what education is needed. Also, if you have any good information about sports marketing jobs for big franchises as well, I would love to hear them. Thanks

For my future I have considered becoming a sports agent, but that business is just too corrupt for my liking. So I figured I would go into sports marketing, finding endorsers, creating deals and contracts, creating the advertisements for those edorsements. What job would that be?

I will receive my bachelors in sport management from Ohio University with a minor in business and am looking to find a job in a sport marketing firm primarily in Chicago or a large city. I am interested in working in marketing or sponsorship and want to focus more on business rather than sports if that makes any sense. I am looking to work in the highest paid part of the sports industry but am not quite sure if sports marketing is it. Also, if any one knows any great sport marketing firms please list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

As I'm approaching college, I finally decided that I really want to be a sports agent. However, the two schools offer different majors, one with sports management and the other with sports marketing. I was wondering if there was much difference between the two?

I am currently a freshman at Purdue University and am at the moment still undecided at what I want to major in. Sports is a true passion of mine and if would be able to land a job in that field it would be a dream come true. I have also recently been thinking of majoring in marketing, sales, or something business-like. From a realistic standpoint, what would you think my chances are in landing a sports marketing, business, or any kind of sports-related job are? Would the fact that I'm graduating from a prestiious university improve my chances? Thanks!

I'm going to school now with dreams of Sports Marketing for the local Texans or Astros. I'm double majoring in marketing and Management with a minor in Mass communications. However I heard that women don't do as well as men in Sports Marketing just because it is "sports". Is this true? Or is it about equal between the two?

I am trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I am considering being a lawyer which makes good money and I think I would make a good one but I find it quite boring. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind going into a job related to sports marketing and business and I think I would enjoy this greatly but the salary is not great. Is it better to have a job that you love that makes little money or have a job you don't like very much that makes a lot of money? Thanks!

I'm a high school student in the 10th Grade in Canada and I want to pursue a job in sports management. Preferably for a hockey team in the NHL. I know there are a lot of different business and kinesiology courses related to sports management, and there have been people who got degrees in sports marketing who have that profession as well. What is the best way to get into sports management?
