 | If it's not revealing too much info about yourself, what manufacturing jobs have you worked in? And if you remember, did any of your plants close and why? I've only worked on an assembly line for computers.
If you're not in the U.S., please note that. I've been wanting to learn about the factory workforce, former and current.

 | What I'm asking is: What is the LOWEST possible unemployment rate in America, now that Walmart and the other retailers have succeeded in sending all of the manufacturing jobs to China? Obviously, we can't get down to the near zero effective unemployment that we had during the Clinton years. What is the lowest it can go in these times? 5?4.5?5.5? |

 | What is the economic benefit in exporting well paying manufacturing jobs overseas that shrink the middle classes and expand the low income classes? They must see some benefit since the middle income right vote against their own interests and elect pro big business and anti-blue collar middle class worker conservatives.
"Reality has a Liberal Bias" that is true, but how does it benefit the right-wing voter who basically votes their own job overseas?

 | I was researching on the future impact of robots in the work force. It seems that the "robot" are being used more and more. The robot industry has skyrocketed over the past decade. So, what will happen to countries like China and Brazil? Both are dependent on manufacturing jobs. If more companies go the "robot" route, wouldn't this harm jobs in countries like China and Brazil?
If you have anything to add I would like to hear or if I'm misinformed.

 | Someone has said free trade has created more jobs than were outsourced.
What type of jobs and where?
Mccain is AGAINST re-negotiating free trade agreements and for new ones. I have never and will never say free trade is bad, but doesn't it matter if it's done in a SMART way, to actually benefit US??????
***Burger "assembly" is not a manufacturing job. Car assembly IS a manufacturing job.

 | Buying more American products=more demand for american products=more manufacturing jobs at home?
So many people complain about all those jobs going to China, and then go to Wal-mart and fill their carts with 50 things made from China. Why don't people buy American?

 | Although a lot has been done or is being done to restore confidence and jobs in the U.S. economy, is recovery truly possible when so many manufacturing jobs have left the country, never to return? How will new manufacturing jobs be created, or something (don't know what) to take their place?

 | We clearly have a trade deficit, which means we are more interested in other country's goods, than they are in ours. Considering our high cost structure, this is no surprise to me. My fear is global financial companies like Bank of America, Citi, AIG, Merrill Lynch, etc, have been making up for lost manufacturing jobs, and now they are permanently damaged, and selling off divisions to other countries. What are your thoughts?

 | We lost 35,000 manufacturing jobs, while the deficit for the month of august was the largest in history.
Is this good economic policy for America?

 | McDonald's just recalled thousands of children's gift/toy Shrek because of Cadmium danger. If we could bring those kinds of manufacturing jobs back to the US shores, would we have more jobs and less worry about how things are made?

 | What really caused the loss of manufacturing jobs over the years? Is it due to the fact that countries such as china have under-valued their currency making it cheaper for U.S. firms to move their businesses abroad to create cheaper products? Or is it more due to international specialization and trade, where many manufacturing jobs were lost as a result of specialization by different countries such as China and Japan therefore making these industries become opportunity costs to the U.S.? Or is it a little bit of both?

 | Why do Americans reject publicly funded health care when it is gives any nation who has public health care an advantage attracting manufacturing jobs. Publicly funded health care is one thing employers don't have to provide and you can't be turned down for a job because you are uninsurable. An example would be the Toyota plant built in Woodstock Ontario Canada who out competed Kansas because of government funded health care.

 | I know we've lost many manufacturing jobs, but if we were able to automate them using robotics, that would eliminate shipping and labor costs and we could manufacture everything here. not sure if thats realistic but thats why im asking.
-libertarian
by "eliminated" i mean replace human labor with robotics.
@ jeff, "they" already have. i could hire someone to create a bot to troll white liberals all day on yahoo. im already obsolete.
