Seasonal Job Questions & Answers

I started the week of Thanks Giving on my seasonal job, and just am wondering how long does a seasonal job during the holiday season last for? I heard that seasonal jobs don't last more than 13 weeks, but this does not mean they will last this long. Also do they ask if you want to be hired on as a full on employee, or wish to end your time at the company? I only ask since I never been a seasonal hire before.

My sister worked HR for Johnson and Johnson for 12 yrs and she told me very few companies hire after mid-November (non-seasonal) due to meeting yearly budgets and getting ready for the tax season after the holidays. With the exception of seasonal jobs it is pretty pointless to look for work between now and January due to the end of year holidays?

If they have 2 jobs and one is seasonal, but the other one isn't, do they still get unemployment from the seasonal job for the few months they are off? I was just curious. I know people that draw unemployment while they are off for 2 months until they are able to go back to work. I was just wondering if they have 2 jobs and one of them closes down for 2 months out of the winter if they could still collect unemployment? Didn't think so though.

I currently am working a seasonal job for a retail store, and they keep cutting me off the schedule. I've only worked one of the seven days they had me scheduled for because they cut the rest of the days. They're only keeping the seasonal workers until Jan. which is three weeks away, should I just leave or stick it out. I'm currently applying for part-time/full-time jobs.

Just curious... how many people would quit their job to work outdoor seasonal jobs. This would allow you to travel to different parts of the world and work many different positions in the outdoors. However, no benefits, paid days off, etc.... Would you do it? Do you think age or salary play a factor in the decision? If so, what age or salary would you leave or not leave at?
