When creating an animated series, what are the different jobs and positions needed? For instance, I already know you need animators, producers, directors, etc... but what others are there? And what exactly do they do? I really only need to know the essential positions.

More and more often I see female producers and directors....and they keep getting younger and younger. How is it that someone gets a job like this? Where do they start? What experience do they have? I know internships, college, who you know....etc... all help. But I am more interested in who you actually give your resume to. Who exactly do you need to know? What do you need to do before applying to be a producer or director....or even casting director?

I recently graduated in December and I have been constantly looking for work as a production assistant in Los Angeles. I still have not found a job. Occasionally I'll come across some PA job postings but most are internships and lo/no/deferred basis type jobs. And all the other production positions are for professional and highly experienced candidates (ex. Producers, Directors, 3D Editors) all of which I have little experience in. It seems like I chose the wrong career even though it is my passion.

I have a story-line with basic ideas and characters, in which I wish to submit to any producer/director who's willing to read and possibly consider giving some form of publication. Whether through movie, or show, or book, or anything else that involves public viewing. I know my ambitions are a bit far-fetched but i would like to be recognized by some people. If anyone can help, please leave specific sites, instructions, or details of any ways to show big-time producers and filmmakers what i'm capable of.

So, before i make a crucial decision in my life, i wanted to hear opinions of others who preferably has experienced working in the media industry. Details about working time and pay would be helpful and if you are able to list the pros and cons of the job and your general experience, i would be very grateful to you.
