I have a BA in Communications media production. Due to the lack of employment in my degree's field I work as a sales clerk at Walgreens making $8 an hour cleaning toilets and dealing inane a*****e customers. I want to quit so badly but I just moved and I need the money and the health benefits. I'm p****d off, depressed, been resorting to at times punching myself in the head hard enough to cause bruising and having very violent thoughts and feelings. The punching thing is new, but this is not the first time I've felt this way. Meanwhile my wife loves her job and makes over $40,000 a year. She said that if I quit then I'm out. I want a job that pays $25,000 a year with health benefits, is fairly connected to my major (open to customer service and admin assist), 8-5 monday to friday (overtime is ok) and I don't want to feel this way ever again. What do I do?

I am 24 and I really don't know what to do with myself. I am thinking about going back to school to study something that I can find a good job with. A trade that will make me valued in the work place. I have my AA degree in Hotel and Restaurant management but after working in that field for awhile I lost interest in it. I did not learn much from taking Hotel and Restaurant management, I learned more from working at a hotel then I did from the classes. Now with this degree the only jobs I can find are in customer service like a receptionist, mail clerk or telemarketing. All the other jobs I see on craigslist.org you need at least 2 years experience in or a degree or certification. I have worked at a lot of odd jobs mainly in customer service. The only thing with most jobs in this field, is that you are so expendable. There are a thousand other blow Joes that can be put in your place if you mess up, or if someone higher up the totem pole holds a grudge on you. I have been fired for stupid little things in the past. I am a dedicated hard worker and when I feel confident and liked in the work place I do really good. But like I said, I constantly feel nervous about screwing up and being replaced. This is why I need to become valued. Where I feel like I am an essential part of the team, of course better pay would be nice also. I have thought about different careers but I cannot decide what to do. One thing I am into is music production, I am not a very good keyboard player but I have a good ear for music and I do remixes on my computer at home. I spend ALOT of time doing that and I feel like at this age I should be trying to establish a career and start making some money. I dont know if this something I could turn into a career? Or if it is something I should go to school for. I would not mind working in something else for a job and keeping music as a hobby. I just want to find the right path so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
