First off, I thank God for my job especially in today's economy. I am paid very well for what I do. I have been on my job for a 1 1/2 years. It's a desk job entering a lot of data in excel. It has always been kind of boring because it's monotonous. I was moved to a different position/dept because my job was actually being eliminated but my manager asked me to come back after 3mths because things didn't go smoothly and the work I did was piling back up. So I obliged and caught the work back up within 2-3 mths. However the last 6 mths have been even more so boring because I don't do half as much as I used to do. So I listen to music, books on cd and just recently began doing answers yahoo. Actually, the issue isn't so much boredom, but feeling guilty because of the lack of work. By nature, I like to be BUSY...so I hate pretending to be busy! I always wonder if I'm going to be laid off because my position was being eliminated in the first place... Any suggestions?? poster #2...i like your ideas. honestly i'm not that tech saavy. my manager did mention going taking a couple excel course, which i did when i first started but I still not good with extra long formulas, etc.so i am kind of lost with some of your suggestions. i consider myself more of a data entry specialist. i will definitely looking into taking more courses!
