Im looking for a job as a deputy building inspector. I've been in construction for thirty years and have a C-10 Electrical Contractors license (inactive) but have been in the residential - commercial building and remoldeling business for the last six,.teen years. I would like to know if my experience in the trades will help to obtain icbo certifications. I would also like to if any City or Countys jobs for deputyII inspectors will train you while obtaining certifications. I live in the inland Empire.

The room doesn't exactly remodel itself. It takes an interior designer, furniture manufacturers, construction workers, truck drivers, electricians, engineers, building inspectors, etc. If the rationale is we don't want tax payer dollars going to remodeling, why is Obama hiring the same interior designer to refurbish parts of the White House? If someone who accepts taxpayer money should get no perks, then Obama should be taking the bus instead of Air Force One.

I'm looking to build my own home. Well have one built for me. What is the process involved with that? Where do I start? Contractors? My state? My realtor--bank loans? What's the most efficient way to do this beginning to end?

I live right behind a small strip mall, and they are doing construction on it. For the past few nights, the workers have come up on the roof to begin work at 3 in the morning. I wouldn't mind, but they are sawing, and pounding away up there. It's very close to my bedroom window, so it makes it difficult to sleep. Are they allowed to do this so early in the morning? Should I call their boss, or the police the next time they do it? Or am I out of luck?

Don't the inspectors ask for licenses? I mean before you can do any electrical work or any plumbing work don't inspectors ask for licenses and insurance before they pass out permits? So let me get this straight. Licenses are only for Legal Residents of the USA. That is a crime you know and its totally wrong.

I just graduated with a BS in Construction Management and I'm not really interested in the field. At most jobs in this field you have to work at least 60 hours a week which I'm all set with. What are some careers outside the field that would be impressed with this degree?

What kind of an engineer would supervise and direct projects such as bridge building, road building, building towers, building windmillls in the sea, and by direct these, I mean that this engineer would be present at the site during the entire construction process and be outdoors the whole time with the construction workers. Would a mechanical, civil engineer do this type of work?

Some houses are built very cheaply, with crooked things and stuff falling apart early... and sometimes they do a really good job of making it look clean and 'neat' so people want to buy it (kinda like a Mitsubishi... lol). SO I'd like to know if there are records or some way to look up the company that constructed a home, and see their track record of quality & satisfaction somehow. Any tips?

My builder suggested that we apply for a credit line at this place, we have given him 100?f our construction loan, and the payments are now past due. How badly will this affect our credit for our mortgage application? Is there any other action we can take to help or protect ourselves?

I want to study civil engineering because it sounds exciting and I get to be outdoors, but I tend to hear some negative things said about them such as they like to drink, they are unqualified engineers, etc. What are some general opinions people have about civil engineers, positive and negative? Also if there happens to be any Civil Engineers out there, what do you think of your jobs?

We are currently purchasing a new townhome and after the offer was accepted, we had our home inspection. The home inspector found several issues that need to be fixed due to shoddy building (like putting in a spa tub but not putting in the motor or an access panel and not hooking up the dishwasher) and stated that some things are not up to code (like the location of the upstairs dryer vent). Is it reasonable on new construction to expect the builders to fix these issues due to poor construction or should we be ready for a "split cost" situation?

I am buying a home and I’m in the stage of getting my new home inspected. The house is a new build and is framed and ready for drywall. I am looking for a home inspector to do the pre-drywall and the pre-close inspection. Some of the inspectors I’ve researched are certified building only, while others are certified combination, certified residential, and certified plumbing. I’ve also seen some inspectors that are certified master inspectors. What is the difference between these home inspectors?

The i****************s are the ones building back all of the houses that were destroyed by Katrina. i****************s are the ones who went to clean out all the nasty houses in New orleans and other areas nobody else wanted to clean because they smelled so bad. i****************s are the ones that make sure they work hard and fast to get it done on time, but also efficiently. My Dad had white people working on his house. They have still not finished it and it has been more than a year since katrina! Also , the work that they have done has been poorly done. My husband whom is Mexican and his friends have done plenty of houses already! And they look great! Anyway- what I am saying is that you anti- illegals need to open your eyes and start appreciating!
