Just curious.. I recently graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree. I had this feeling in my gut since sophomore year that this career was not for me, but I didn't want to change majors and start over. I've received a co-op engineering job and I can say I really can't see myself as an engineer in terms of a career. I'm really looking to take a risk and try something either COMPLETELY new or maybe a little similar but very different. I have been looking at research jobs in hospitals and stuff like that. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've been out of work for a year and a half now as of this month. I feel sometimes as if I want to cry and have a mental breakdown. I'm an out of work automotive quality engineer. I actually use Yahoo Answers as a sort of therapy. I do have some help, but I have two cats to care for and it pains me to watch them share in this situation. I just want my life back.

When 90?f the open positions claim they want somebody 5-10 years of experience. I think most of us who went to engineering school were lied to about how easy it is to find a high paying engineering job...

I have a Bachelors in Biomedical Engineering (2007). I did not do an internship while in college and because of that it was very hard for me to find a job as soon as i was done. In efforts to make money and to take care of my family, i got jobs in whatever fields would hire me. Now 6 years later, i would like to get a job in Biomedical Engineering but i have no relevant experience and most jobs i see wants experience..i cant seem to even find an entry level job in that field. My question is: what jobs should i be looking for so i can start gaining experience? my only hurdle is that my husband has a good and stable civil engineering job so i need to stay in Florida where Biomedical Engineering doesn't seem to very popular

It would be in quality engineering but I have a degree in Aerospace Engineering and would rather take an aerospace engineering job. Unfortunately they are not hiring for that at the moment. I am a quality engineer at a smaller company (a fraction of the size of Lockheed) that builds aircraft assemblies that will be moving facilities in two years, requiring me to drive 40 mins to/from work. They are also paying for my graduate degree. I do hate my quality job now (which I will probably hate at Lockheed as well) but should I pass up working there despite that fact? Would it be easier to transfer to an aerospace engineering job once inside Lockheed or should I wait it out at my current company until I can get an aerospace job there outright? In the long run, I definitely DO NOT want to stay with my current company. If I go to Lockheed now though, I MIGHT not get tuition reimbursement.

Hi, I graduated this year with a CS degree. I did an internship with a very good company X as developer on system side, but because of the recession i couldn't get an offer from this company. I am right now working as a Quality Assurance (Testing) Engineer in another company. I am completely confused as to what to do. Should I continue my present job or look out for opportunities (at this time of recession) ?

I am looking into the 4 different ROTC options and platoon leaders course. If I want to obtain a degree in civil engineering and I want to have a civil engineering related job in the military which of the 4 branches should I choose. I heard that the army doesn't look at degrees and army engineers can be thrown into situations where they are not using their acquired knowledge from knowledge even if they are engineers... For example a mechanical engineer is used as a combat engineer is this true?

I am a sophomore in High School with no plan after school. I was brought the idea about engineering so i looked up the different kinds of them. This was the only one i found that i would have any success in. I am pretty good in algebra (not geometry) and i have fun working with money but i don't know exactly what a Sales Engineer does. So my question is: What do they do? What do you have to be good at? Is there a better engineering job then this (not artistic)?

I am worried that once i get my degree i will have to move around a lot to keep jobs. i have heard that some engineers go from project to project moving around a ton. i was wondering if anyone knows if it is easy to find a mechanical engineering job that would allow me to stay in one spot and settle down?
