Retail Manager Job Questions & Answers

I have an interview for a retail department manager job at a Shopko store on Wednesday. It's for the Apparel/Jewelry/Shoes section of the store. Has anyone had an interview for a Department Manager position in a not-quite-big-box retailer? What kind of questions should I be prepared to answer? I'm coming from 5 1/2 years at my local Wal-Mart where I was a Customer Service Manager.

I am currently working as a retail sales assistant but I have an interview for a retail assistant managers job with a different company. I just need to know how to approach the question of salary in the interview and an idea of how much I should be aiming for. As I haven't previously worked in a managerial role I'm unsure of how much they get paid. I live in the North West of England and the pay seems to vary for the same role. Can anyone help?

I started out the retail manager of a store, and when I went back to school the company wanted to keep me part time - so now I am the purchasing consultant. How would I handle that in a resume? Does "Retail manager - purchasing consultant" suffice under job description? Should I handle it some other way? Let me know what you think Thanks Tink

I'm currently looking for a new job and I've had a few interviews which I think have gone really well. However I have yet to have a job offer. I have bright red dyed hair and I was wondering if this will have affected my chances of getting a job. I've mostly applied for assistant manager jobs in retail fashion along with a few in general retail. I am qualified for these positions.

Is there a retail manager on yahoo answers? I would love to know why they talk down to you, why they shout at you in front of customers and make fun of you and make you feel stupid. My managers do nothing but shout at me when I am trying SO hard to do well at my job! I have the statistics that show I am doing well and trying hard, but they still keep shouting at me just because I forget how to do something on the tills, for example. Any thoughts?

I have a liberal arts bachelor's degree and I can't seem to find a good job. I was thinking either administrative assistant or retail manager. For some reason, I can't seem to get an admin position. I have experience as a retail manager, so I thought I'd apply. The place that I worked for was my family's business so it wasn't too bad. How is it working for a company? Can you move up? I keep hearing how people hate it. What's a typical day?
