I applied online Monday, attended a 'hiring event' and was offered a job as a sales consultant for ATT/Cingular. It pays $12/hour plus commission. I'm 18 and starting college, and it seems a bit too good to be true. I want to major in business and feel I could be an excellent sales person, but I read that you must meet a certain sales quota. Is this easy to do or could I easily be fired? I also received a call from Verizon today, wanting to set up an interview. Does anyone work at either of these stores? I'm just concerned because it seems like I was hired too fast and the interview was held at an ATT hiring event in a conference room at a nice hotel. There were quite a few people and I'm just wondering why they are hiring so many people. Could someone please tell me what the catch is to this?

I was made an offer by all three of these companies and all of them gave the same pay rate of $11. Best Buy was for a wireless sales consultant, t-mobile is a retail sales associate and Chase is for a teller position. Now I already know that if I am working for t-mobile I will make the most money because of the commission but I am looking for something to stay at for long term. Which one would you recommend for a college student?

I've been a consultant for more than 5 years. The problem I am having is that I can't seem to make the transition from a low-level desktop/systems engineer to enterprise consultant. I want very much to be the expert in my field but I can't seem to get the opportunity. My company paid for me to get 5 wireless networking certifications, but then never assigned me to a wireless project. The result is I am "paper certified." The same thing happened with my MCSE. I had the same problem at my last company. Currently they have me assigned to a data entry job. Arrggghh!! You would think that consulting would be the best way to learn because you would see many wireless installations in a short time, for example. But it doesn't work that way. I'm starting to think that maybe consulting is not the way to go. How did you become a high-level consultant? How did you become an expert in your field? Can you give me any advice? Thanks for the advice from those who have answered so far. One thing I should clarify is my boss' (and company's) attitude. He knows what I want and he wants me to succeed. He is trying to get me onto a good project. Usually problems like timing and resources hold us back. For example we had a project to install a wireless network throughout a school system. They intended to give a laptop to every student. However it turned out that the person in charge of the bidding process got a payoff and the entire project was canceled. It's stuff like that which makes me think that mayeb consulting is not the best situation. At least if I got hired into a company's wireless team, for example, I would know that day-in and day-out I would have work in my field of expertise. The drawback is I would see far fewer upgrades and migrations.

I know they conduct a drug test and background check but does that include credit? I was offered a position with them as a retail consultant but my credit isn't too great and I'm afraid they won't hire me because of it. Also, does anyone know how long the process takes? I don't want to put in my notice with my current job then find out I don't have the job with Verizon next week.

I been set up for 2 interviews next week. Toyota called me already and I spoke with the general manger and he wants me to come and speak with someone. ....I hope that's a good sign (telling me when when I can start training). I also have a interview with Alltel wireless being a sales consultant. I'm a people person, honest, good personality and I have sales experience being a server in a restaurant. I'm generally a nice person but I'm at a time when I need to make money fast and I'm willing to do what I have to do to keep the roof over my head. I hear the business is cut-throat but very rewarding. I have a lot of debt I need to pay off, and bills, and sadly I don't even have a car (I'm taking the bus to get around) .Toyota says they pay salary the first like 2 months but after that I'm on my own. Does it seem like the right move to get into the car salesmen business? Or smarter to try to sell cell phones? At least they pay hourly+ commission (I'm in Venice,Florida.) Thanks for reading

I need a job asap and I want to work! (see how it can be two different things?lol) Dear Sir or Madame / Human Resources Department: Thank you for taking your time reviewing my resume. I am applying for the position as a Bi-Lingual Part Time Retail Sales Consultant. I am a sophomore at the City College of New York. The reason why I want to work for AT&T is because I enjoy learning about technology and helping customers. I have had a long time researching phones for myself and I have learned a lot. I know that I will be able to use my knowledge and that I will learn even more working at AT&T. I will provide great customer service since I enjoy helping people and talking about wireless technology. I also want to work for a company that can provide employees the opportunity to advance within the company. At my previous jobs I learned the importance of providing great customer service at all times. I have also developed skills for pursuing customers into buying a product even though I was not required to do so, I found this enjoyable and rewarding. I would really like the opportunity for a personal interview. My phone number is xxx xxx xxxx (end) what should I fix? what should I exclude or include.. here is the link for the position http://jobview.monster.com/Bi-Lingual-Part-Time-Retail-Sales-Consultant-NYC-NY-144-Delancey-St-Job-NEW-YORK-NY-US-84794169.aspx and yes, I do speak spanish..and also portuguese, but this last one is not requiered I DONT KNOW who to direct the letter to...what should I do..is what I wrote as a heading ok? thank you!
