I am leaning towards taking classes for an associates degree @ The Art Institute, for Fashion Merchandising. Will this be good enough to land a job as a Visual Merchandiser??? Or should I go for my Bachelors in Fashion Marketing & Management? I am 25 and I'm not getting any younger.
It seems fun and active, but at the same time long hours at times and always on your feet working, putting things up and down... anyone have experience as a visual merchandiser and how was it? good or bad?
I have a fashion design certificate from high school for the completion of the fashion design course (3 years of work) visual merchandising and marketing of apparel was also taught in the course.
Could i get a job as a visual merchandiser at a store like forever21 wetseal or charlotte russe?
What is the difference between them, and a visual merchandiser, if any?
I'm interested in pursuing a career in visual merchandising, but I'm very overwhelmed. I don't know where I'd find a credible college where I could earn a degree in this subject. (I live in Illinois) And I wonder if I would even need a degree for this field. I read somewhere that I may also have to have a background in fashion merchandising. Is there anyone out there who is currently a visual merchandiser? Are there any helpful websites out there? Your advice is welcome.
I may be moving to Berlin soon with soon with somebody and am wondering how i go about getting a job there, especially as i don't speak the language (i am learning though). I work here in London as a visual merchandiser so to find something like that would be great, but i was also thinking of doing the TEFL course and maybe teaching, but also unsure of what this allows me to do there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.x
I have an interview set up for a visual merchandiser postion.
Do they expect a portfolio?
What kind of interview questions do they usually ask in this situation?
I applied for a job as sales assistant/visual merchandiser and sent out a CV telling them about myself ie: education, internships, experience and very briefly about some hobbies relating to fashion exp: window shopping and trend watching. Today they've called me, asking me for my age (as it wasn't in my CV) and told me to send another email to tell them a little bit about myself. What else should I say?

I am applying for a visual merchandising job. I have had experience in working with Plan-O-Grams. I have also been complimented on my choice of visual organization when I do not have a Plan-O-Gram to refer to. I am a quick learner and would like to express these things in the "Skills" section of my resume.
How do I do this? I'm a resume newbie; I'm only 20.
I wanna do visuals for stores like h&m, forever 21, urban outfitters, etc.

I only have 1 year in retail sales experience.

I've got a strong background in fashion and graduated from an Art and Design university. I've done small jobs for Banana Republic but there's a job offer at Tommy Hilfiger for a Visual Merchandiser. If you've got any advice, that would be great! :)
Originally I'm from England, but moved to Canada 5 years ago.
This is what I want to major in and eventually do, hopefully for urban outfitters, american eagle or something along those lines. I was wondering exactly what the job title was for that career? Also, what should I major in, and are there internships for that type of thing??
Visual Merchandiser- San Diego
Hi all...I moved to Pittsburgh about 1 year ago with my husband and have no luck finding a job. I have MBA in marketing and BA in international business. I have 1 year of experience in marketing and 1 year in medical billing. Any help please!! I am starting my new marriage life because I got married a year ago right after we moved. I am going through a difficult time. I am not enjoying my mariage because we are very worried about this situation.... I applied all over the place and it seems like the luck is not there. I had few interview here and there but they always say I don't have enough experience or I always hear this: sorry...you are over qualified....I am very tired of hearing this all the time.
My former boss describes me as a great worker with good sense of business. I also worked over seas for about 3 years as a visual merchandiser for small clothing campany. I am interested in a position in marketing or anything at this point. just to get my feet in the door. HELP PLZ!
And also what is the title of the person who designs windows like for Macys, are they the same thing? What kind of schooling would someone need to do this for a job?
