I have a phone interview with Coca-Cola as an Account Manager. Position is located in Michigan and I am curious what the job will be like and the responsibilities other than what is listed in the job posting. I have 6 years of sales experience and comfortable interviewing. Just looking for some insight and "edge" in understanding what they do. Any one doing this for them or know of someone? What is your typical day like? What's the salary range? Thanks for the insight!

Hello. I have been working for a Marketing firm for the past six months doing translation work and it appears that they really like the ideas and slogans I have come up with. So much so, that the President has invited me to a business lunch to discuss my becoming an account manager with their firm. Please, what exactly does an account manager do in marketing and what is the salary that they command? Thank you for all your help!

I'm interested in becoming an Account Manager in advertising. I work in marketing communications, but on the client-side, so it would be a big change to go to the vendor-side. What's involved? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Had a strange feeling today when I met my younger colleagues (also Account Managers) after a job interview. I felt sadness, resentment and regrets... My manager - who has a childish smile - is 27. I am approaching my 40 and my professional life has not been great at all despite of my useless high qualifications. I have worked abroad before and I have always lived my life on my own without friends or family for love or support. Most of my future colleagues have been working there for at least 5 yrs, some are married, some have houses... They are friendly, young (age difference between 10 and 15 yrs!) and look happy. I don't feel happy at the moment because I have a long way to go before building a stable life. Been through a lot since I graduated: contract terminations, dismissals, unemployment, bereavment, depression, legal cases, redundancy. I don't know how work colleagues, a new job or my friendly landlord can change the colour of my sad heart really.

All three let go during probationary period including me. They were very nice about it, gave me severance, a reference and noted that I was a nice person who came in early every day and was committed to the job. They said account managers need to have "very specific traits". They said all these people were good, hardworking employees, just not the "right fit". One had 8 years experience in the industry. Could we all have been that bad, or is there something wrong with their recruitment or training? This wasn't a sales job. The people were hired one after another, essentially to do the same job.

OK, it has been two weeks. I followed up with a quick note asking if they received all they needed a week later & did not hear back yet. It is an account manager position, needing high level of customer service, in support of web & database services for the auto industry. I worked as IT Manager in an auto group which used it and helped them do countless hours of end user troubleshooting when they were developing & changing their product. I don't know people to call & they don't want calls any way. They just reposted the job. How should I follow up? Do I resend the whole package (they wanted a short cover letter too)? Do you think they just want more candidates, or does it bode worse than that? I really like the company & want to work for them. How should I approach it?

1) Working as a business development account manager for a healthcare staffing firm $23.50 an hour. 2) Working from home selling health/life insurance over the phone and computer for an agency that pays $5000 a month guaranteed if I hit the target. If not, I don't have a job. If I hit the target, they pay commission on top of that $5000 if my commission is higher and make me a sales manager.
