Recently the president of the board of directors of our community theatre group resigned. It was not a paid position and the theatre is a non-profit. Has anyone made a living from community theatre? I currently have a full time job and two small children, otherwise I would consider taking over. No one else on the board wants to run it. This is an elected position with two year terms, but I could convince the rest of the board to make it a paid position if I devoted my full time to it. But would there be enough money to pay me a salary? The theatre is in a suburb of Rochester NY. We raise funds for our productions and schedule four per year. I wonder if it is worth a try.

What is the difference between a sound engineering technician and an audio equipment technician? What kind of job duties does each profession have? How do you obtain either of these positions? I went to the bureau of labor statistics websites and this isn't explained very well. All I could figure out is that sound engineering technicians make roughly $10,000 more a year on average than audio equipment technicians. That seems like a substancial difference to me, but I don't really understand why there would be such a difference in income if the descriptions of the job duties sound very similar to me.
