I'm about to go out and look for my first personal trainer job and am wondering what to expect. What type of place did you work for, and what did you do? Were you allowed to shadow the first couple of days? Also, did they give you beginning clients to work with? Thanks!

My brother is a roofing contractor. He has more than 20 years of experience in this field. He used to have his own roofing business which was successful up until now (because of economy crisis). Now he is without job. He has been trying to find a job with a large roofing companies. However, he has an experience in residential roofing rather than commercial. I was wondering if there is possibly a quick course that he could take at home to be able to do something else. It could be roofing related or something else. Please advise. He has lots of pride and all that really brings him down. Thank you!

I love animals a lot, although I know very little about them. If one wanted to work in sales, how much knowledge would they need to know about the animals? Are there specific departments that you can sell in, such as reptiles, birds, etc.? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is a question for experienced personal trainers. After researching LA Fitness, Gold's Gym, 24 Hour Fitness and such, it seems that 70?f the job is sales. Also the pay looks to be borderline minimum wage. Is this true? Not going to get a PT Cert to be a miserably paid salesman, so do you work for a gym that is purely based on personal training? Or is being an independent trainer the real way to go?

People always suggest I find another career path since I don't want to be a Vet, which seems like the only career with animals that make "enough money". But I insist that I must have a career with animals, even one that does not make much money. Wildlife biologist and zoo keeper are my two choices, but both make around 35k, more or less. How much do animal trainers make, mostly the ones that work with exotic animals?
